Default Minnesota Seasons

I am travelling to Minnesota for 10days over Thanksgiving and would appreciate any information regarding bowhunting seasons and license costs. I live in Alabama and am looking forward to a late fall or early winter hunt. Also, if any of you bowyers are from Minnesota maybe tell me what kinds of conditions weatherwise are likely. Thanks in advance.

Gscuttles,

The weather for next week looks like it is going to be rather cool, highs in the 20's and teens, lows single digits, not much for snow forcasted.

It used to be that you could not buy an archery deer license after the firearms season opened, but I went on to the dnr website and couldn't find this rule still in print. A call to the Minnesota DNR (888-646-6367) might be in order on this unless anyone else out there knows. **** I called and found out that you can still purchase an archery license, they did away with that rule a few years back *****

Non-resident license is reasonable at $126, you'll need a drivers license or SSN to obtain the hunting license via an ELS (electronic licensing service) agent.

The archery season typically opens around the Saturday closest to September 15th and closes the end of the year (except in the northeast boundry waters area which closes Sunday the 24th).

Hope this helps.

And - your license is NOT valid until TWO days after you buy it once the season starts so if you show up on Monday you can't hunt until Wednesday (keeps folks from shooting a deer then buying a license)

You will be cold - dress warm & be sure you can shoot with cold weather clothes on AND be sure you can draw your bow when you're freezing. Don't forget about your pac boots - lightweight rubber won't cut it.

What part of the state will you be hunting? Muzzleloader season opens Sat after TG so you might have to wear orange too...??

Good luck!
