I think it is important for every one to remember that this is a PUBLIC OPION'S BOARD. With that being said you need to remember that when you ask a question or join in a thread or post any thing at all you are subjecting your self to PUBLIC OPION. That means that not every one thinks, act's or expresses their opion's the same way. This is not elementry school it is the real world and some time's thing's aren't alway's peachy.

Stickemup just becouse some one jumps another about some thing does not make them a TROPHY HUNTER. There are alot of newbi question's that get answered with out being berated or told that they are dumb. I personaly try to answer newbi question's when ever I can. We are not little kid's here if some one say's some thing you don't like who cares? People shouldn't live and die by the words of another they are just voicing a concern but you do have to be a little thick skined. When you get a large amount of people together talking about some thing that we are so passionate about they are going to disagre maybe even say harsh thing's. We are adult's here most of which have never met each other so you realy shouldn't get too upset and loose any sleep or even stop posting here. One more thing when people do say some thing a little negitive maybe one can turn into some thing positive by steping back and looking at what they did or said and use it as constructive critisisum. We are adult's there is no need to run away crying and never come back. But this all just my humble opion on this matter.

Awhhh Geeeeee..... I'm getting old and just can't do this reading between the lines bit. You know..like where do sarcasm and criticism meet and does the sun really come up in the east...... BUT.... there is nothing new in this thread. No one ever accused this bunch of being anything less or more than crazy. At least, as you say, half of us are... and the other half you wellllllllllll..... we're mostly just "Crotchetty". Stick around... group hugs are due to start any day now.

To hell with beating around the bush! Get out of the field and take your family with you. You/they do not hunt, you/they just enjoy killing.

I think that is all I need to QUOTE on that subject.

The only other thing I would add is that you deserved the sarcasm and harsh words and LadyBH didn't.

Stickemup,

I agree with your point, but blaming it on trophy hunters doesn't seem right. Blame it on people's warped personalities or their intolerance for other views, but I dont see where trophy hunting has anything to do with it. Trophy hunting is not bad, nor is it only participated in by bad people. In general the the more hard core, long time hunters tend to become trophy hunters (there are exceptions of course). They may be very opinionated because experience tends to do that to you, but there is a huge percentage of trophy hunters out there who have tolerance for other's point of view and who realize that beginners and casual hunters will have different goals then they do.

I am a trophy hunter who may never even see a trophy while hunting, yet it is a goal that I will continue to have because that is what excites me the most. However, it doesn't bother me if someone shoots a juvenile deer and is excited by it. I don't think it should be encouraged, but if a hunter is excited by that particular experience and it's legal, then go for it. It is my hope that with experience, hunters will become more selective, but I understand that many if not most, will not. I will encourage this selectivity in a friendly, good-natured way. I see nothing wrong with that. It's only when people become insensitive and nasty with their comments, that they get out of line, and I see that from both sides of the fence.

Straightarrow,
I agree with your post in its entirety and some clarification may be necessary. I am NOT against trophy hunting, QDM, TDM or anyone who practices any of them. I am however, totally against anyone who tries to force their own practices on someone else and that is exactly what some of the posters did on LadyBH's thread. C903 being one of the worst. My comments were not made towards trophy hunters in general, just the ones who place themselves on a pedestal.

LadyBowHunter is just that, a bowhunter and a lady and she conducted herself as such and should have been given the proper respect for that. She wasn't and if someone can sit up on their pedestal and dish it out, then they should be ready to take it in return.

I would really like to point something out about this whole affair, even though it has already been pointed out that the majority of the posters didn't agree with the negativity on that thread. If you would go take a look at the read column on Lady's thread (it's on page three or four now) you will see that almost two thousandpeople read that thread. Now go look at C903's apology thread and you'll see that only a couple of hundred have read it so far. In short, the damage is done and no amount of apologizing will fix it. How many "lurkers" do you think were created out of those two thousand readers? How many left and won't be back? I guess we'll never know will we?

Several people have stated that my posts were hostile and sarcastic. Hostile? Not even a little bit. Sarcastic? You better believe it. As I said earlier, the negative posters on that thread deserved every bit of sarcasm and then some whereas LadyBowHunter most certainly did not. There is a huge difference and no further explanation should be necessary.

Do you people actually hunt? Or do you just sit in front of your 'puter and put each other down all day? The way you people act on here, it's a wonder anyone even reads these posts. I've just started on this board and I'm thinking of stopping. If I want to hear nagging all day, I'll stay home with my wife! I don't know about you guys, but I'm going hunting. CYA!

Striatarrow maybe some of thing's that have been said here were out of line that includes many people myself and probably you included. The shooting button buck's issue is not only a trophy hunting ot QDM issue. Many people who don't fall into either catergory just plain find shooting fawn's un sporting. While some one else might see it as ok. That is fine they were leagal deer and her father in law had every right to do so. I for one have learned a lesson on trying not push my values on other people. Will I not try to show my point to some else any more heck yes I will but I will do it in a better manner. I think that you should remember though when you point your finger at some one there are four more pointing back at your self. Some of the people on lady's side in that post were just as quilty of berating and thrashing people.

As far as people just " lurking " well we are all adult's here and one must have broad shoulder's. If an anti confront's one these "lurker's" are they going to stop hunting in fear of a dispute? I sure hope not and for that reason they also should not be affraid to post here! This is an opion's board and well....people can and certainly will give their opion's and I hope no one stop's doing that. All in all if you know you in no wrong why should you even care what some one else thinks?
