C903 and luke make some good points about the ethics issue with SOME bowhunters that don't take the time to make a good shot or make sure they have there bow and acc. setup properly. I for one in my first years of bowhunting didn't always do the right thing by making sure my bow was setup proper and taking not very good shoots, I didn't have anyone to guide me at early age as to was is right and what is wrong and how to do this or that, this does not make it right but with age and maturity I have grown into what I feel is and ethical hunter and I am big enough to admit that I have made mistakes(and i am not say anyone else here is or has been unethical in the past) but I did learn from them but again that doesn't make what I done right because it wasn't but I did take something from it.
To say someone is not doing the right thing by shooting a young animal is flat out wrong IMHO but that is my opionion not anyone else's and I will not try and push this on someone or down someone that doesn't beleive the way I do unlike some who have posted in this thread.
To say it is not hard to take a young deer is also wrong, there is a reason why the conservation depts allow this so the deer pop doesn't get sick or over populated CWD ring a bell to anyone???????
I have had more young deer bust me than the larger so called smarter deer every nice buck I have seen walk into bow range has bit the dust but the doe and yearlying deer have faired much better against me. But that is my observation yours may be different. If you want to trophy hunt that is fine with me but don't put down me for the way I hunt either. If I go out today and have a button buck walk up it is getting a arrow and I will be here posting it so you can bash me but you know what I don't give a crap what you say I done what the law allows and I will be proud of it.
I kind of like to think ANY deer is a throphy not just the one's that get hung on the wall!!!!

Way to sidestep your amount of experience c903 and if it is your decision to only shoot hugh deer as I did see a post from you wanting people to show their does. Then so be it but if I kill a button then only one deer is taken out of the pool where if you take a health doe then how many in total have you taken out. I know many people dont see it this way and that is their right and I will not debate my ethics with anyone on the internet face to face yes but the more I hear from you the more I think of a PETA person.

And I dont think you can even come close to telling me what a real hunter is for you my friend have not a clue.

Buckblaster and royak

In all seriousness, and not being sarcastic, you need to learn reading comprehension. You threw the wrong switch and now your going down the wrong track.

Your position has been recognized and so recorded.

Thank you

Congrats to your father-in-law!

But...I do think some more time might be spent at the practice range becoming more familiar with his equipment. Or at least take the time to properly tune all accessories. Any deer, large or small, deserves that.

Congrats to your father in law on his KILLING.

He can shoot all the button bucks he wants as long as they are not on my property. I would only question why he didn't track the first fawn before shooting at the second fawn.

For all of you who congratulated Dad on his 2 bow kills, he and I thank you. Let me just say something to the negative people out there.
Dad hasn't been successful hunting for the past 3 seasons. Here in New York, it is legal to shoot 2 button bucks, and no, he did not KNOW they were buttons before he shot them. When he found out, he was still glad because it puts venison in the freezer, and I THOUGHT that's what hunting was about.
Dad hasn't gotten into the woods much these past 3 years because his wife was battling cancer. Maybe some of you will remember me asking you to pray for her last year. Mom died in May of this year, and Dad hasn't had much happiness since then. If it took these 2 buttons to make him act like a kid at Christmas, well all I can say is good for him!
I'm sorry some of you guys feel so inclined to judge others. Why can't you just be happy for a fellow hunter and his success.

Sorry to hear about your dad's loss. Doesn't change a thing. Judgement is what keeps things from spinning totally out of control.

Those who condone the recklessness in the field can be as happy as they wish. Those of us that do not condone the recklessness do not have to accept it no matter how much you and others want us too.
