Well yesterday was my 7th day in a row with not the first deer sightning. Yesterday was my hunting partner's 6th day in a row without a deer sightning. I have been hunting in the bow hunting only counties here in West Virginia and normally by this time of year the bucks are chasing the does all over the place. I have yet to see the first scrape or even the first rub all season. I have talked with other hunters and everyone is saying the same thing. I know Charles Alsheimer of Deer & Deer Hunying predicted the pre-rut to start Nov 16th but I never have seen the rut start this late. It looks like the peak of the rut will be the last week of Nov through the first week of December. I wonder if the rut will be the same as year's past just a week or so late?

I also hunt in the bow only counties with my brother and we have only seen a couple of small rubs. We haven't seen the rut hit this late either. Usually got some nice bucks taken by now but we haven't even seen any or any scrapes either. Wonder why its starting so late?
