Leaf River or Cuddeback?
#1
Before I get started, I realize the question has been asked before.
I also realize this thread is best suited for Gear Reviews, however; considering how much traffic is generated in this section of the forum as compared to there, I figure my best results will come from the general forum.
I'm planning on purchasing a digital trail camera with a portion of the money I'll be receiving for the auto accident I was involved in on the 20th of last month.
What I am looking for in this thread is pictures from both of these company's cameras, both pro's and con's of the models you've tried, and which you would reccommend.
I have never owned a trail camera, so my experience with them is limited at best. Price is somewhat of a concern, but I am a firm believer in the old saying that "you get what you pay for."
Thanks folks.

Totaled our blazer.
Emergency room visit right after.
Physical therapy and medication (muscle relaxors and pain killers)for three or moreweeks.
One month or more off work.
No permanent damage that we know of, just muscle and tissue damage in our lower backs and necks. My dad may have a pinched nerve in his neck, he's got little to no reflexes in his left arm/hand and his fingers are sort of numb.

Well, I haven't used the Leaf Rivers though I have heard some good things about them (one problem I heard was they had a slow trigger speed). I do however have the Cuddeback C.3000 and I couldn't be more pleased. This unit takes very good pictures, day or night, and it has a super fast trigger speed. The battery life on my unit is AWSOME, I have about 500 pictures on my Duracells and the battery level still reads 4 of 4 (full battery life). The 3-D camo is simply awsome on these units and they really do disappear when put on a tree.
A fewdown points..... the controls take a little bit to get use to, I read the manual and it still took a few days to get it down pat, but now its no problem. The mounting system is hit or miss with alot of people, the camera is attached via a torque screw that goes from the inside of the camera into the tree. I really enjoy it as it gives me more versatility on what tree to mount it and it is more sturdy than bungee cords. The only other complaint I have is that the hole in the front cover that you put a lock through is small and it is impossible to geta heavy duty lock on the front of the unit. I fixed this problem by snipping two small plastic tabs off the bottom and drilled the hole out a bit.
As far as pics go, I have plenty posted on here right now, but here is a sample

Ive never used the Leaf River either,, but Ive heard the same thing about the trigger time being slow. I have a Cuddeback and I love it, it is even the 1.3 mp original. I plan to buy another before season. Here is a daytime pic from mine,, I know its not a deer, but its still a good pic.

I like my leaf river, the trigger speed isn't as slow as many people say, trust me whenever I have to walk in front of it to get the card out it gets me on camera. Battery life is incredible. I have owned the camera since February 2005 and have had it in the woods since the day it arrived and I have had to replace the batteries three times and I have taken in the ballpark of 12000 pics on it.
Here is a day and night pic.
