So is there no human oder at all in our urine?
Studies would seem to indicate as much...

Again, see Antler Eater's experiments and/or experiences, as well as my own. The mature bucks (150-160+) on our walls would be but a little proof of our assumption that human urine does not contain an offensive odor. That, and the studies I've referred to...

Seems like the tone is turning somewhat here. I really don't know if human urine contains human scent or not. I would assume that it would contain some kind of distinguishing scent. If it doesn't, I really like to see the studies done. I am curious, maybe give me a link to the studies that you are referring to. If there is no unique scent between different types of animal or mammal pee, I can't see myself peeing in a bottle, leaving a trail and expecting a buck to follow it to my stand. Whether it bothers deer enough to make them vacate the area, I really don't know. And I never really wanted or needed to find out.

Like I questioned earlier, I believe our diet has a lot to do with how our urine smells. If you eat a lot of garlic, you body odor smells like it. I would guess that we also get rid of it through our urine. Saying that, a normal diet that doesn't use a lot of spices might not scare dear away. I spicey diet might.

Any Mexican, Asian or Indian food lovers seen a difference?

haha hardcore...

I'm by no means a bio chemist, but it's my understanding that odors come from chemicals/oils and bacteria in general... Urine contains these but similar in composition to chemicals and what not released in the urine of other animals.

Another anology that I've heard is that Deer typically aren't spooked by urine of any origin because they have no reason to associate it with danger.

hmm...yea that would suck if you were a girl and had to go...hate to have on lots of layers and have to take them off really fast if you got to go...
anyways..

here is a link to the description of urine...now, from reading it the only difference in it would be some not needed minerals as you see listed in the link..however, the amount would be dependant on you...i would still say that our urine and other mammals are around 90% simular but the small differences are just the minerals...but again like they stated before there is no reason to relate our urine to danger...anyways here is the link...

jnturk, I read your link, however, wonder how any conclusions can be drawn from it at all on whether deer can detect human oder from human urine.

the only "odor" if any that they may be able to detect would be any sweetner, alcohol or other such molecules in your urine...other then this the urine's would be the same....if they can smell that i am not sure but i would have to say no..but if you drank a lot of alcohol or coffee then maybe yes..but otherwise i would vote no

Sorry, but I don't see any mention of scent specifically in the link provided.

But I have another question that I hinted around in a previous post.

If animal (mammal) urine does not contain different scents. Then how can a buck differentiate a doe from a buckor human pee? I have layed a scent line of doe pee (not doe in heat) and have had bucks follow it. Could I have the same results with human (it would be a lot cheaper), or even coyote urine?
