potty break?

BobCo, just curious... Why not? I mean, what would be the difference? If you're willing to (for some) take the risk of peeing in their personal scent-bombs, why not feel just as freely to let 'er fly off your stand?
My only concern ever in doing so was mentioned by someone above; it can be noisy if you're not careful.

I'd pee right from my stand if I didn't think I'd forget and lower my bow right into it or lay my stand in it
Actually, When I hunt I no longer drink coffee in the morning and take care of business before I climb up, and even though I bring a bottle just in case, I've never had to use it.

I have all ways used a bottle. last year I pee off the side of my stand and the next day there was a small buck came in right at the same spot thatI peedthe buck spin and toke off. I just said to myself that it was becaseI pee off the side of my stand. But after reiding all the posts I dont know. It could have been the way I walked in to my stand. I may leave the bottle at home this year.

Greg, the scapes are more of a gathering ground that gets checked for scent by the bucks. I think it pisses them off more then anything finding the urine there. They may get curious and check them often. Peeing off the stand to me is something different. And having the scent scattered all around my stand (from 15 feet high) is not what I'm looking to do. Ilike to be as stealthand non-detectable as I can around the stand.
I'm not saying that it will defenetely keep deer away from the stand (going off the stand), but I don't have any inclination to do so. Anyway, most of the time, I'm in the stand for about four or five hours, and I usually don't have to go unless I geta 24 oz coffee. I do limit myself before stand hunting abit.

Well i don't usually hunt from a tree stand, but biologically we are both mammals and besides a few differences we all go through the same process or urinating. ie the stuff coming out of you and the deer are fairly the same, so there should be no problem at all peeing from your tree stand...doing the #2 however does have its differences....lol

But using that same logic, why do we as hunter address the oder issue so much? Why do some wear rubber boots and scent loc suits?

Also, the human body cools itself differently than most mammals. The process produces sweat easier and more often, which in turn contains oils and acids that are not typically present in the wild. Add on top of that all the typical odors that our clothing, hair and skinabsorbs from day-to-day life, and you have a potporrii of sorts that the deer know doesn't belong.

Davoh is correct in that humans produce sweat more and also have other oils and chemicals coming off of us. Deer have fewer sweat glands and do not produce the same type of odor because we have far mor amounts of bacteria on us then they do. As for the urine our kidneys and there kidneys are some what the same in there processes don't want to get into the science of it all but the chemicals that are in urine from us and deer are very simular except for when they are in the rut then they urinate on themselves and produce an odor from there back legs due to the urine coming in contact with a gland there. If you want to know more about the specifications shoot me an email.
