I am really surprised at all of you guys that let er rip right outof the stand. I have never really given it a lot of thought, but I always use a bottle.
With all of the "scent elimination" buzz, I just thught more would be bottle users.
Do you guys really think that it does nto bother the deer?

I'm another for "right off the front" method. I think deer are in tune with the human B.O. odor because usually when they smell us, we're not taking a wiz, so they just don't associate our wiz to being a danger sign like they do our natual B.O. odor!

Only killed one last year...while she was sniffing the puddle i left on the ground 2 hours before...peed off my stand the rest of the season...saw deer calmly go by my stand just about every time i was upthrere...i even though about peeing on one doe while upthere to see what would happen...didn't want alarm any other animal if she bolted, so i just watched her instead.

Why carry extra crap into the woods like an empty bottle that can make all kinds of racket banging on brush and tree limbs? If it's in your pack, it's taking up valuable space.
Take it from a couple veterans. Look at Antler Eater's post on the second page, then go look at the camo thread in the Gear Review forum... I think his results speak for themselves. Check out the 160-class in my avatar; it was the SIXTH time I'd seen him that season, and I pee off my stand all the time. If that had bothered him, I'd never have got a second look at him, let alone a fifth and a sixth.
Besides that, there is MUCH scientific data to back up the fact that if you're packing in all that junk so that you can pack out your pee, you're wasting your time.
One study showed that bucks actually chose human urine over the smell of an actual deer in active scrapes they were visiting. Oh yeah, liquid new car smell was right up there with it! [8D]

I'm with everyone else and let er rip right off the stand.
The only thing that I have wondered about is if it mattered what you ate and drank the night before. I know if you don't drink a lot of water, urine is darker and has a stronger odor. Has anyone that does pee off their stand noticed a difference?

Interesting topic. Now that I think about it, I hiked in to a National Park a couple years ago where deer hung around camp frequently and would sometimesget within 20' of me without much concern. I noticed that they were actuallyattracted to pee and would in fact lick whatever I peed on--probably for the salt content?

I pee in scrapes all the time. I have seen tests that have shown it is equal to the deer scents bought in stores in atracting deer (scrapes). I don't pee off the stand though. Best of luck to the people that do.

The only thing is when it hits the leaves it makes a good bit of noise from a tree stand, I still do it though.
