Hey I have a hint, come here....shhhhh now listen close......

stop caring what you are hitting and practice shot execution up close to the target with your eyes closed...if you need help with a spotter to make sure you hit the target, get one. Practice exclusively on shot execution and once you masker the mechanics of the release, then and only then aim at something and practice some more....until you master the mechanics of a smooth release, you won't ever group/master the shot....

Seriously, it's no secret...you need to have the mechanics first and then and only then should you actually aim at something.....shoot hundreds of arrows with your eyes closed so you know how it's suppose to be done. Your muscles and brain will remember this, "how to" and then you can hit what your aiming at with a smooth release.

Uh.........yeah, what he said. Rob's right. Worry more about mechanics. Also, shoot close, like 5 or 10 yards. Get your confidence up. Squeeze the trigger, don't punch it.

First and foremost...... R-E-L-A-X.

It's a bow. It ain't gonna bite you. There is no recoil like a 12GA shotgun with a slug! Concentrate on form. Practice drawing an "imaginary bow" too!

if you use a release draw back and aim without your finger on the trigger youll find that if your jerking it or or not settling before shooting that even without your finger there youll jerk your arm funny like flinching on a real shot. keep doing it without shooting until you can hold on target a few second and picture squeezing the trigger then start of real shots by keeping the finger off the trigger until your settled and then wait a second and settle in again with your finger on it and fire. thats how i broke it. every year except the last to when i broke out the bow i had to do this routine for the first two weeks. never had the problem on deer just targets guess thats why its called target panic. i also have been helped by focussing on the target and blurringthe pin into my vision and feeling the shot more and using the blured pin as a guide instead of an exact pinpoint aim.

Think of your bow as a rifle, not a shotgun. Squeeze the trigger on the release and make sure you exhale completely before you pull that trigger.

He's right you need to squeeze the trigger gently and exhale, but don't think of your bow as a firearm. (no offense) I'm just saying a bow is nothing like a firearm. You have to realize that shooting your bow has to be something that is relaxing for you. Focus entirely on the target, and your shot should just happen. As your pin is floating on your target your finger should relase the string without your brain actually saying "now". You just have to relax. Rob is right. You need to start off real close to the target. When you've got it down and you're not flinching at all it's ok to move back.

You need to read everything you can on how to trigger your shots with back tension. Your brains only job is to aim and keep aiming until the release goes off and surprises you. This is the most accurate way to shoot a bow. If you have any questions you can PM me and I'll try to explain it in more detail. I did explain this on another post recently, and one guy really said it helped him. I'll see if I can find it.
