Default Hogs & Broadheads

Trust your opinions here and have a question. I been using shock wave mech. 100 gr this season on deer and have took a doe so far. The heads worked without flaw. 20 yrd shot pass through the heart, deer ran less then 20. I'm going on a hog hunt in Dec. in Texas and was wondering if I should stay with the mech. or go to a fixed head. I'm sure a hogs skin is thicker, just wanted your input. Thanks in advance.

a hog does have a little different protection over the vitals.(a shield)that is on a big boar. sows, gilts, and smaller boars are ok.a quartering away shot is best, that way you can slip in behind the shield and into the vitals. if you have enough KE. for mechinals, you should be ok."NEVER" shoot the sholder on a hog,or any animal as far as that goes.always go for the broadside or quartering away shot.
I have shot mechanicals for several years now and have never had a problem.
just my 2 cents, there are 98 more. hope this helps, good luck. go for it.

I am not a hunter I am a whitetail population reduction specialest

remember keep your back to the sun, your knife sharp, and your powder dry.

TreeClimber's advise is correct- for a shot with an arrow, it's best for a quartering shot behind the shield.
I've included a pic from the TexasBoars website that shows the ideal killing zone for gun hunters so you'll see where they are aiming for.
