Default Most exciting hunt of my life!!

I set up a new stand 2 weeks ago on the edge of some young growth (popples i think) and some recently logged maples. I only get to hunt here on the weekends because its 2 hrs from home, but i got out fri afternoon about 4 and wasnt expecting to see much, but i was still stoked to be out hunting. I climbed up the tree w/ my Rivers Edge climber and hunkered in. For about 2 hrs i didnt see anything except 2 grouse, a swamp hawk, and some butterflies. then about 5 to 6 i hear walkin and im lookin around tryin to pinpoint where its comin from. Then i look over my right shoulder and i see a deer walkin through some raspberry bushes at a steady pace, about 75 yards away and not getting any closer. Its just then that i realize i left my deer call at home. Oh Crap! so i do this lil mouth bleat thing that i made up kinda sounds like muaaaa after i do it the deer is outta sight behind some trees, but i can still hear it walkin, a lil faster now. then i see it comin down a trail about 60 yards away, its actually getting closer! then it stops and looks around so i bleat again muaaaa and it actually starts comin in closer. it walks around for like 15 sec trying to figure out whats goin on. i bleat once more muaaaa and it starts walkin right towards me!! as of now im shakin like mad. it gets to 15 yrds, stops, and looks right at me. it sniffed the air a few times and turns broadside but its still lookin at me.so i figure if i dont draw now, itsgonnaleave neway. so i draw back and just b4 i can get my pin behind its shoulder it takes off towards the swamp. i didnt get to take a shot, but calling in a deer to 15 yards with nothin but my mouth was very exciting. sorry for the long post, but every1 loves tellin deer stories, and sometimes i get a lil caught up in it all. ps idk for sure what the deer was, but it was defenitely antlerless, so it was either a nubbie or a doe. but it was quite plump!

Sounds like you had a fun hunt there. Maybe you should leave the call at home
everytime and use your new found skill. Good luck.

I did the same thing the other night, just trying to get a doe and a fawn to leave the area so I could climb down but everytime I would maint(sp) she would come in closer. Knowing my luck it will never happen again.

What a riot! I've grunted with my mouth to stop a buck for a shot but never have been able to call one in. Sounds like a lot of fun.
