Whatever the law says in your state regarding the recovery of game animals on a neighboring property is all that matters. You trespassers keep making yourself feel good by saying no harm, just hop the fence and get back over with your deer.
Pick and choose what law you want to abide by.
If a hunter were to come to me and ask about recovering his deer I would go with him and assist in the recovery and then see him on his way. Problem is,this never happens, ever. They always just hop over onto my property and tromp around to their hearts content.
Well they used to,now I have a reputation for not being nice to ANY trespassers, and there is no way onto my property without knowing you have crossed the line. If you dont want to have a very bad day,you better hope its not my land that you look both ways and hop on over looking for or gathering up a deer.
By the way,one of the most famous lines out of a scum sucking trespassers mouth is,oh I shot a deer and am tracking it,yet there is no blood anywhere, hummm.

Thats funny isn't it all of you with big bahls don't have any thing to say when we talk about the land YOU OWN.You are all ready to bitich about a land owner but not one of you puts money up for land to do the thing you love;I won't make you look any worse.Go to bed and tell your wife you love her and buy your own hunting land.

Sheesh things got testy on this thread! Signs-signs...
Here in MA, Environmental Police Officers (EPO's) have the authority to go on folks land to retrieve animals. If the landowner will not let you on then you call the EPO. That's the law, application of the law may vary tho. It's a state by state thing I believe.

Maybe its your prioritys that keep you from buying land , in any case I can walk the boundries of my150 acers and point out five stands that are within fourty yards of my land. These people I say are morons.Ever year they gut shot does and want to chase them on my land. NNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!
This is a bow hunting forum and unless you plan on spine shooting your deer you might think about how close you are to posted land before you shoot not after.

Do you have any stands within 40 yards of your property lines? If not , it sounds like your wasting alot of land.
Better learn to play nice with the neighbors because what goes around comes around.

Well Sylvan here in Illinois the hunter has the right to cross that boundary to retrieve a deer he shot on his own land.
It states and I quote: "You must have permission to hunt from the landowner or tenant before you enter their property. That includes tracking wounded game. Although it is illegal to kill game and not make an attempt to retrieve it, your attempt ends if you are not granted access to the property where the animal goes."
Just thought you should all know.

I can speak to MN law.
Thing is.. you can call up the warden and have him explain the situation to the landowner who is refusing you permission. However, the warden, much like yourself, has NO RIGHT WHATSOEVER to enter that land without permission. I am sure that nine times out of ten the landowner listens when the warden gets called in, but if a landowner has already told you no, he can do the same to the warden.
However, if the land is not posted, get in there and grab your deer. The sucky thing about our laws here is that if you absolutely, 100% want to be civil and nice about it and knock on the landowners door first and ask permission, and he says no, then says no to the warden, you are SOL. If however you trespass (providing there is no signage and you havent been told to leave) you will get your animal.
This, IMO is stupid.

Bawanajim: you are the epitiome of a jackass landowner. I don't appreciate you calling me or any other member on this board a moron. We are all fighting for the same cause of keeping our hunting privileges alive in this country.
As for letting people get their animals off my land that I own (that is substantially larger than yours but we don't need to get into a pissing contest), I have NO PROBLEM letting people get their animals off my land. You don't own the property on the other side of the fence and neither do I, if people want to hunt it, they have every right to do it. It may be that you are too busy showing how big your "bahls" to be/help a respectful, wildlife conservationist.
You act like you own the animals. "My deer" what a crock of crap. It's not poaching if he shoots it on his side of the fence now is it? I bet you're the kind of guy that puts "No Hunting" signs up on public land that borders your property so people won't hunt it.
Oh yeah and since you did the whole "Get up. Go to school. Get a job. Buy land" thing maybe you should go back to the place you went to school at tell them they need a new spelling teacher. The words "cann't" and "pouch" would be a good place to start.
