Ihunt on public land and usually hunt close to private property 30-40 yards from the line and before the season starts I try to make it over and talk to the owner, after a few minutes of getting to know me he had no problem letting me on his land if the situation ever arose as long as I let him know before I entered his property. All the other hunters told me this guy was a jerk and a few other choice names and he wouldn't let them on his land. I think alot of times if we will aproach thing s before they happen and just let them know where we are setup and it's not on their land it goes along way with them and if he said "no" I'm going in after dark and getting my deer!
So you hunt near the property line and have already decided that if a deer goes across it you WILL goand get it regardless of the law or the permission of the landowner. So being friendly with the landowner and asking his permissionis just a charade. That's not asking permission that's just a schmooze so hopefully you get what you want without any trouble. You have no intentions of respecting his decision. If you are denied permission you are quite ready tobecome atrespasser and a sneak. If you feel you are ethically right, why notdo it inbroad daylightand be man enough to take the consequences if you get caught rather than sneak in at night like a theif. It's like I said in my original post on this. For some (apparently more than I thought) all this stuff about ethics is just excuses and rationalizing to do whatthey want. Not ethics at all! Just people that have selfishly decided that they have the right to something that does not belong to them. I'm sorry but this kind of attitude really bugs me!

Just wondering if any of you sneaks would think its ok to hunt out of my stands when I am not using them,How about my truck,I have an extra one that I dont use all the time.Or do you just go by rules, morals & ethics that suit you at the time.

"Do as I say not as I do" Could be a motto for some.

bawanajm: Are you a hunter? You language and attitude indicate otherwise. I'm am not talking about your spelling (or lack thereof)or even the fact that you have insinuated that you would cause harm to someone for stepping foot on your land.

I am talking about your attitude of "my deer", "my this", "my that". So, you own land...get over yourself........a lot of people do..... I have learneda long time agothat you will be treated in the same manner that you treat others.

IMO the reason you have a lot of problems is because your reputation is probably well known inyour area. I am wellarare ofyour type and I choose to stay clear of people like you. I can decide in life who and who not to interact with. You sir are one that I would choose to stay far away from, so you would not have to worry about me hunting within 40 feet, yards, acres of YOUR land and YOUR deer......

On the other hand, there are other who are not as nice as me and there were times in my life where I was not as nice as I am now. These types will do anything they can to "irritate", or get some pleasure out of making your day miserable. It makes for a long season having to constantly check and re-check for possible trespassers, picking up there garbage, seeing gutpiles on your land and not knowing where they come from. Seeing stands on your fenceline and wondering every night who it might be.

I hope the best for you and your neighbors, because going through life with that big of a chip on your shoulder must be tough!

Hearing analogies like that is always worth a laugh. So do you feel that if someone breaks the law by driving over the speed they should or can also break other law so not to seem hypocritical, where does it end? Jeez, I wonder what a person who commited murder could do using thattype of analogy.
