friend or foe? buddy sticks a stand 40 acres awayfrom mine!!

I've hunted as many as 4 people in 20 acres before but that's on a mountainside where all the deer movement tends to be parallel with the ridge at different elevations so a person at the top of the ridge may never see a deer walking at the bottom of the ridge. For me I enjoy having friends to hunt with and if it means that I might have to share a nice buck, so be it. Sometimes it helps me to stay in the stand longer if I hear that someone else has seen something. (we can use radios in my State)

I wouldn't worry too much about a guy 40 acres away..........there are probably going to be at least 10 more guys between you and him anyways at some point.
I had a guy come and sit 40 FEET away from me in PA during rifle season............and this was in the middle of 100,000 acres of state forest.
We had a nice chat

I think the confusion here is that acres is not distance its area and area and distance are not the same thing. To say something is 40 acres away means nothing if you are trying to say how far apart 2 positions are. Thenumber of acres between any 2 points is precisely 0 and the distance across a parcel of land of some acreage depends totally on the shape of the parcel and the direction you choose to cross. Exagerating to make a point, 1 acre is 43560 square feet and this theoretical acre could be 1 foot wide and 43560 long so the distance across the short way is only 1 foot while the distance across the long way is 8.25 miles. I actually own a 4 acre parcel of land that is 90 feet wide and 1936 feet long.
