What is our sport coming to?

I always thought of putting some kind of oscillator or transmitting device in an arrow, would help find downed game. I wouldnt think it would be too hard to do, and it looks like someone is doing it. I havent checked the link yet, but i bet its close to some of the designs that never left my head to make me any money, lol.

I'll save that $200 for arrows or something else fun and keep placing my shots thru both lungs and watching them fall down. If you ask me I think it should be illegal everywhere! It will just make more sloppy irresponsible hunters than we have now by giving them the mindset that poor shots wont matter , they can just locate it on the GPS and fling another arrow in it's a$$.

While I'm all for 100% animal recovery I think this is going too far. Besides crossing the line of fair chase (which I hold deer) it may give people or new hunters especially, a false sense of "security" that a marginal hit can be tracked and recovered.
If you put your arrow into the boiler room there is no need for a tracking devise. The blood trail will be more then suficient.
Not to mention I like the anticipation of following a blood trail.

Illinois is a no electrical tracking device state so yeah, this would be a no no. Electronics on the sights are fine... Now, the last I heard the string trackers were legal but I just picture that thing getting wrapped up on a limb on you...

so there is such a thing,i wasn't sure.

Im with adams on this one. I 90% of the deer I shoot are on pass throughs. I have shot a couple big does on steep quartering away shots that didnt pass through, but I watched both fall at less than 80 yards.
Its not a bad idea for turkeys though. I have shot a couple turkeys with the bow that didnt leave a blood trail. With a good expandable shot on a turkey you will kill it but the arrow wont go through, leaving you only a entrance hole, and Ive have a buddy who shot a turkey with a fixed blade through the lungs and had to have a dog track it! Definatly wouldnt use it on anything else.

While the concept at first seems cool, I'm afraid it would result in sloppy shooting with the hunter thinking "I can hit the deer anywhere and still track it" Then the devise, for whatever reason fails or the range is shortened and you will have more lost deer IMHO.
I think others here have said it best, get a good double lung shot and odds are you will be able to see the deer fall from your stand.

How in the heck would this device cross the line on fair chase Adams? The only advantage would be after the shot in tracking the animal. I won,t be buying one but for the life of me I can,t figure out how it would cross the line of fair chase. Maybe you can elaborate and set me straight.
