Anyone use a Red Dot sight?
Hello! I am new to bow-hunting and to this forum.
I am thinking of trying a Red Dot type sight and would like to know if anyone uses or has used one. What are your thoughts? Does the sight reveal bow torque and other mis-alignments or is it much like using a fiber-optic sight with no peep-site: a single aiming point that relies on a consistent anchor?
What about the BSA 30 MM Red Dot sights? They are cheap enough.
Is constant battery replacement a problem?
Thanks for your help!

RE: Anyone use a Red Dot sight?
I was also thinking about getting a scope. But today I talked to a guy at a bow shop and he said they are almost worthless, "they jiggle, they are hard to see with it pointed on the animal, etc." From what I learned they might be good for target archery but totally unreasonable to hunt with. I still would like to try one, not buy one. If you still want one they have a $70 one I thought of buying at Archeryexperts.com but I'm going to research around to see if I can spend that 70 bucks on a good quality hunting sight.

Charles, it sounds like to me that the guy at your shop just doesn't carry them and probably wants to sell you something else! I don't use one but I'll have you know that 2 of my huntin' buddies have used them VERY successfully for years! In fact, these guys consistently shoot awesome bucks and swear that these red dots play a huge role in that consistency! The reassons that they love them are because of the bright single aiming dot and the ability to use one without further reducing lowlight vision by needing to depend on a peep sight. I have offered these guys FREE sights from other companies, TR, Tox, etc.... but yet they won't even consider anything else. that suggests to me that these red dots are great choices for the serious bowhunter. Here are a couple of their latest Red Dot trophies!
