Default Another question about Martin bows.

I posted a question here last week about a Martin bow & really appreciated the feedback I got. I bought it & It seems to fit quite well & shoots very well for me. I had to start using just 2 arrows to practice with because if I use three I'm breaking too many.
Anyhow, my boss bought his kid a Martin Magnum, I believe it also says panther on it.
Well the kid cant sit still long enuff to bowhunt & now its just sitting there gathering dust.
Its the correct draw length & while presently set at 45 lbs goes up to 60 or so.
Carl (My boss) bowhunts but he's lefty so he's kinda stuck with it. I asked him about it & he said he'll let it go for $350. Its alot shorter than the one I just got & being obsessive about hunting tools, having another bow wont bug me a bit. $350 seems high though, for a used bow to me. I dont want to take advantage of his situation, but I dont want to over pay either, so, wadda you guys think? $350 fair price? This bows got very few arrows thru it. He sighted in & sat in a tree for an hour or two & quit.

I wouldn't pay $350.00 for it. I bought my 2003 Jaguar for $199.99 straight from the dealer.

You can buy yourself a brand new bow and have it pretty much set up for $350.00!

Thanx guys. I guess I'll offer him the $250 but dont think he'll take it, not yet anyway.
He's still hurting inside I think after spending all the money for a new bow only to find out the kid isn't interested. I'm sure he's exagerating but supposedly he spent over $500 for the bow & set up + arrows & a release. Still that doesnt mean much it seems, as the shop he got it from doesnt even want it on a trade or consignment. I think by the fall I can get it for $200 or $250.
Thanx again.

yes I agree w/ these guys. 350.00 is a little steep for that bow used. even w/ set up. I' d take $250.00 and whip it out at him. just tell him you got $250.00 cash right now. even though its not the $350.00 hes asking. when you out that kinda cash in front of some one. they start thinking what they could buy w/ the $250.00. cash talks and BS walks. if he dont take it just tell the offer will stand if he wants to get rid of it at a lower price. He'll sit on it for awhile after no one bites on it and then eventually seel it to ya. at a cheaper price. Unless he finds someone to buy it at asking price. good luck

Martin has been and will probably continue to be an excellent product (I own a Cougar II). I had the chance to fondle a Martin Slayer the other day. Felt solid but the guy wouldn't let me shoot it. While he was shooting it was quiet and his set up allowed a real tight group. We're talking silver dollar groups of three. I was impressed but I've only been with the archery thing for 3 months now.

$250 would be the most sensible. I really have been happy with my martin, it has been a great bow for the money!!! I am glad that I was limited in funds and didn't end up spending more on a high dollar bow.

LeverDude How much did he pay for this bow? What does this bow come with? Does it come with a sight, rest , stabilizer, arrows & quiver? Tell him you will pay him the average sale price of that bow on ebay.
I just sold a 5-year old PSE ThunderBolt in very good condition for $300. My pro said it was worth $175 for a trade-in. He felt if I sold it myself I could get $250 to 300 for my total setup. I paid $600 for my entire setup new.

Wolf killer,

It depends somewhat on his mood as to what he spent. Some days its $600 some days $500. So I'd say the truth is in the middle somewhere. It comes with everything, rest, sight, peep, string silencers, string loop & kisser button & a release. Theres a dozen arrows too but they wont be stiff enuff for me. I'll wait till he takes $250 & if he wont he can keep it. I just bought another bow anyway & my wife is getting cranky. First guns now bows, she dont get it . Thats ok tho as she puts up with me & she's mine.
