Has anyone tried this one yet? A local dealer is selling them for $99, and I was tempted to purchase one or two, but not without some real-world reviews first. I had been saving for a Leaf River digital cam, but if this one works well - why not buy 2? Any reviews would be helpful - thanks in advance.

Well I've had mine since Feb. and have taken around 500 pics. The only thing bad I can say is the mounting system sucks. I suggest the rechargable batterys, they last twice as long as anything else. With the 1.3 mega pixs , the pics are not as good as some of the orther cams. But for that price you can buy 2 or 3 cams for the higher priced cams. Therewas alot more than I thought in setting up a cam, if you take your time and a little effort pays off . Good luck.

Thanks for a quick response - If I may ask two questions... in your experience, howlong does the battery last, and how fast is it's trigger time? This model uses a 6V battery -- I assume rechargeable can be used.

In warmer weather it can be a little on the slow side(it's been hot up hear) but in colder it seems to be quick. If you get one you'll need a sd card(memory) 128 mb or better, they hold about 300 pics with the 128mb on high res. The rechargable lantern battery last about 700 pics or more depending on the temps, maybe less in extreme cold.

I've had one in the woods for about two months. The trigger time is ok. No as fast as the cuddieback but ok. The picture quality at 1.3 is not somthing you want to put on the wall but works great for scouting. I'm still on my first battery and had taken 500 pictures as of two weeks ago (I'm checking it this weekend and expect the battery to be dead). The mounting system is a joke. I'm working on making my own system. Get the sd card and it will hold like 270 picts. For $99 I would buy it. If your just looking at scouting with the camera you can get 4 for the price of a cuddieback and not loose sleep that someone is going to steal it.

Just got it in the mail - seems easy enough to set up. The mounting system definitely needs improvement, but overall - seems to be worth $100 so far. I'll put it through the ringer and give a report as well. If it works - I'll buy three more

I have one that I bought back in February (and paid ($179 for it
). I have taken well over 1000 pics with it and so far it's doing great. The pictures are not the best, but are just fine IMO for a scounting tool. I have (2) 256MB SD cards that I swap out each time I go to the lease. I also have a rechargeable battery and solar panel and the first round it lasted for 12 weeks. I believe the Moultrie solar panel puts out less milliamps than the camera uses so I'm in the process of trying a different brand of solar panel. The biggest downfall that I have experienced is the mounting system, it absolutely sucks! What I have done is to take a piece of 2x12 about 8" longer than the camera and mount the camera to it useing 3/16 x 6" long toggle bolts. Then I drilled a set of holes above and below the camera for u-bolts. Then I mount the solar panel near the connectors for the solar panel hookup facing up at a 45 degree angle. I drive a t-post near my feeder and use the u-bolts to mount it to the t-post. I am currently modifying that setup by screwing 2 lag type eye bolts one each side above and below the camera so itr can be strapped to a tree for trail monitoring or whatever. I recently picked up another one at the local Bass Pro shops for $99.88 and will probably pick up another one this weekend. I thought i was a good deal at $179 so I feel like it's a great deal at $100. I can have one fully rigged out with the camera, rechargeable battery, 256 MB card, solar panel and the modified mounting system for about $160.
If you are just absolutely stuck on having to have better resolution than 1.3 MP, they are coming out with a new model in September that will be a 3.0 MP model and will stamp camera ID, date, time, temperature and moon phase on the picture. That should make for some very interesting patterning. It is supposed to be in the $180-$200 range. I'm gonna have to have one I think.
