I am looking for a youth LH bow for my 6yo son. I have been reading about the Mathews genesis and they look great. Have any of you tried them yourself or for you kids?

I just bought my 10 yr old a Parker Buck Shot best investment i could find!!!!!!! 18-28" draw adjusts with a set screw(less than one minute) he is a 18 1/2" I am a 29" we both shot the same bow from 20 yds within 5 minutes. For $50 you send it back to Parker Bow Co. and they will put either the 50lb or 60lb limbs on it for you. Complete bow $299 here in MN thinking bout getting one for the 'ol lady also!

We have some for our youth workshops and they work great for begginners (yound and old). My advice would be to get the Pro version for your son direct from Parker/Genesis. This version has a little more pep to it, and has a better string as well as a place to mount a stabilizer. Best thing is - mom, siss, or anyone else (including yorself) can shoot it as well. A great family bow.

I bought a genesis for my 6 year old son and the only draw back I can see to the bow is it is way too heavy. I think it is a great bow and my wife shot it for a summer while deciding if she liked to shoot or not but it is not a great starter bow for a young kid. If you were starting someone 10 years old or older they would be able to handle the extra weight better.
My son got frustrated with it very quickly and I switched to a stick bow for now that he is shooting every time we practice. I think by the time he is old enough to shoot the genesis it may be better to get him something with his own draw length.
Once again I like the idea for schools or shooting ranges to use this bow to start someone out on but seemed way too heavy for a 6 year old.

I just bought mt 10 yr old son the Genesis bow. He loves it. The great thing is that it has no specific draw length, so we both can use it. It helps me to show him the right form, etc!
Good luck!
