But remember that is with only 90 grains of powder, a former member here, CascadeDad, used 110 gr of T7 with that bullet, but he was shooting a White U-Mag... one of a few ML that I would ever load up with 110 and 460 grain bullet.

I do not remember what the velocity of that was but that would step everything up a good chunk...

But even then most of the folks shooting that bullet use 70 grains of real BP and find no problem with the small load.

Cayugad regularly shoots a 500 grain Bull Shop and swears by that one, actually calls it fun???? Doc White himself was partial to a 660 grain conical if I remember the weight right. That would put a hurt on anything in North America - actually it might hurt on both ends....

They also had a 50cal 460gr GP. Ive got 2 boxes of both the 410s and 460s. Oddly they were not lubed like the pasty looking 385gr.

And I realize there are a lot of people that use the Power Belt very succwssfully but it is not a bullet that I would use - I was hoping the the PT's were better and they probably are, but still not tough enough for my applications.

GM how thick is the copper plating that is applied to the lead core.

Also I have been told that a lot of folks like the Ranier bullets in their pistols. But I am thinking they use them at less velocity...
They only ones i shot and attempted to recover were the 50cal 300gr and the plating was thinner than the 50 A&E DG/DC which performed very well for its weight class.

I don't think i ever did much with the Harvester PTs Golds except paper and they shot very well. The 45-300gr appeared to be tough enough but it was always a Harvester exclusive as far as i know.

Some Rainiers are made exclusively for other companies such as the 50-335gr is made for Alexander Arms and it appears to be tough for its weight. Its made for the 50 Beowulf and 1800fps. Sometimes those are available as over stocks at Midway for $27/100.

Reloading, i took aim at my big cheeto jug " bulk kind from sams club" I did my usual cement like mixture as its very tough of bullets + the sticky sand wraps up the bullet and makes it easier to find.

Squeezed a shot off and i swear, it was like having shell shock! That heavy 30lb bucket of wet sand jumped straight up into the air and flew back a good 2 feet.

I went to inspect it and recover the bullet, half the face of the jug was blown off and when i picked it up, there was a nickel size hole in the back of it.

I havent had one bullet go through this set up before until today. So the story of these bullets blowing up into tiny pieces is entire BS!

As for the " i could kick myself statement" I KNEW i should have got this one on video! It truly was a sight to see that big jug just lift off the ground.

I used 110gr Blackhorn209, 260gr Harvester PT Gold.

Once i can get a few 5 gallon buckets i will do the test over again but with a safety bucket behind the first for added insurance.
Is this the same bucket of sand? You were only using 90 gr of Goex for the Thor in this test. You had 110 gr of BH for the PT. Have you tried the Thor with 110 gr of BH?

No that was a 5 gallon bucket of sand. Very dry clumpy sand from the looks of it.
