I totally agree semi..seems that soft leaded hollow point traps tissue and tears the bullet up rather than expanding.i always used the maxi balls in the .54 renegade..Ray

I tried a 430 gr Maxi Hunter with 100gr of Pyrodex in my Renegade.

I won't do that again. I'll just shoot it with a PRB/BP and get closer.

Yep, but if you think about it.that little hollow point is motoring and hitting skin then liquid and filling up lol.which makes the hollow point the weak link! Ray

Fast lighter bullets suit me better.
I shoot the 460 grain Bull Shop from a 1/28 twist GM LRH barrel and feel quite comfortable shooting it to 150 yards with open sites on a deer and 175 on elk.

I use a 6" 'Point Blank Range' concept and allow the bullet to be up a max of 3" and down a max of 3"

Here is a ballistic table for the bullet shooting 90 grains of T7-3f

No thanks. I'm not going over 300gr for a bullet.

If I can't kill an elk with that. I'll do more fly fishing. <----< fish

Wait a minute. Those ballistics aren't impressive for such a heavy bullet.

Look at the Thors at 200 yds for FPE.

These are approximations based on "0" 100 yards
yards muzzle 50 100 150 200 250 300

250 gr BT
vel 2200 2019 1849 1690 1545 1413 1294

energy 2687 2263 1898 1586 1325 1109 930

yards muzzle 50 100 150 200 250 300

Muley the 300 gr is a excellent choice for obvious reasons.do you think the deer or elk that get's hit with a 300 gr saboted bullet or a .460 conical cares about how long it took the bullet to get there? dead is dead my friend, plain and simple! i just want to have fun and make it a challenge. and i can't complain about the overall reduced cost in shooting either to be totally honest! It's very addicting. You'll give up shooting if it gets a hold of you. I went fly fishing 320 days a year for 6 years straight. It burned me out.

I'm getting the itch again.

I get them from Dan for about $22 a box of 50 that has got to be 1/2 the cost of Barnes and you use less powder and with BH you would use even less. $$$ in your pocket to shot more with...
