Well the Lehighs passed my test in Texas!

I do have a lot of long shots here in Missouri and just want to make sure I can make the most of them if I do my part.
OK, I do have a comparison but come to find out I have never shot the 275's with BH... (I am still stuck on T7) So the 275's were shot with 120 grains of T-2f and the 300 with 120 grains of BH. You can see the Bh got the heavier bullet going as fast as the lighter bullet.

The 300 look awful impressive out to 200 but golly I think they might be an overkill on whitetail in the normal ranges... I do use them for Elk.

Sabotloader, that 300 grainer with BH really looks like it performs on paper. It looks good out to 200, not really enough in speed loss to notice as well as drop, while having better energy. I may have to pick some of these up. They will put the hurt on some whitetails that is for sure. How much difference do you think the two powders make in the results?

BH is a progressive burning powder so it really is a natural for heavier bullets. With 120 grains of T7-2f my velocities with the 300 grain bullet drop back to an ave. of 1900 fps - no big deal but you can that the BH moves them along a little better.

Also remember these tabels are approximations - you will have to to the shooting to verify. In these tables I left the elevation @ 3000 ft and the Temp @ 50* both of these can change the flight path a bit also.

What I really like is that you can hold right on @ 190 yards and the bullet will be down around 3" - The 'Point Blank Range is set @ 6" - so from 0" to 190+ yards you will never be higher than 3" nor will you be lower than 3".... takes a lot of the math out figuring out your scope...

13/1400 fps & 12/1300 fpe @ 200 are real nice numbers to be dealing with at that range... but then again the 275 is not that far behind....

I agree with you. I think either bullet will do the job on whitetails with no problem whatsoever. I'm looking forward to the weather giving a break here so that I can get out and see what they will do at 200+ yards. Good data that you have given me, thanks.

I can give you my perspective on it... Tom was going to hunt with the 52 Knight this season. He and I were discussing it on the phone one evening and came up with the thought that it would be nice to have a 220-250 type bullet in .458 to shoot from the the 52 or even a 50. Next I believe Tom talked to Dave about it, he did some math and came up with the .458/220 gr.

Tom got them and gave them a workout - they turned out to be really accurate and I believe Tom did harvest more than one deer with them.

I think... Dave has not put them on the web sight yet as they are a bullet in development.

I have shot them from both my 52 and 50 (testing) - they really should be an excellent whitetail bullet.

That is my 2 cents

Good choice. Do you know which sabot you are going to go with?

It will be either the MMP HPH Orange, Harvester Short Black, or Harvester Crush Rib. I will start with the MMP HPH Orange first based on Sabotloaders posts. I should be able to test them the later part of March as I need to get the gun finished up first.

Congrats on the successful hog hunt. That bullet did a fine job.
