Default CVA guys - Need some help!

Well I have e-mailed CVA/BPI about this issue and received an automated message response about 200 plus e-mails per day blah blah blah!

I have a CVA Optima Pro 50 cal that has a severe issue. The barrel fit has become extremely loose. The gun is 3-4 years old and has maybe 300 shots through it. It recently developed alot of slop in the lock-up. With the action closed you can "twist" the barrel a good 1/16 of an inch in either direction and the entire trigger assembly will move in and out of the frame about the same amount. I have had it to 2 different reputable gun shops in my area and they both told me that a small run made it out of the factory with soft pins in the frame assembly. They both told me to contact CVA about it and they would surely handle the issue.

Well I have tried to contact them and never get through or receive anything more than an automated response from their e-mail. I realize the gun is unsafe to shoot and am getting to the point of contacting a lawyer about the fact that I cannot make contact with CVA. Are they dodging me?? Very poor customer service in my opinion.

Anyone have any info or ideas. The gun has always shot great and I really enjoy it, but I need to get it fixed somehow.

Thanks in advance,
Z-Rider

yep sound like a loose pin.

A lawyer over a $200 rifle? Good luck with that! The lawyer will cost 10x as much

OK, since a lawyer is such a "bad" idea, what do you recommend? Doesn't CVA have a lifetime warranty??

Give them a call at (770) 242-8546. You will probably be on hold for a good while but if your luck is like mine they will help you out. I called about a ramrod that I broke and they had a replacement to me in about 3 days no charge. There have been several other things that I have called them about and they seem to get stuff taken care of fairly quick. The email is a different story... Don't waste your time!

yes cva has a lifetime warranty. You should give them a phone call. and do it quick because they will be shut down until mid january as they are moving to a bigger building.

I just thought about it but the optima barrel doesnt pin to the barrel, it just slips under the pin. Could be something with the lock up spring. Have you ever used some carb cleaner and sprayed out the action? this area gets a lot of fouling in it and could be causing some binding issues.

I will check into the lock up spring being dirty and give it a good cleaning. When will they be shutting down for the move? Apparently they don't put to much effort into e-mail responses.

Thanks for the help so far,
Z

Check the Weld on the pice that connects the Barrel to the Pin and see if it has any cracks in it.

BP,

I looked it over before and did not see any issues or even wear inthe pin recess, but will look it over once more just incase I missed something.

Thanks!

i had an optima a few years ago that did the same thing, after taking the barrel off to clean one day my pin fell out. i called cva they said send it in, i did and a week later i got a call saying it was normal wear and not covered under warranty. i got rid of it and bought a tc omega, i might buy another cva but i don't know.
