Amen to that olsmellhound. Sometimes I hunt so hard for so many days straight that I get tired as heck and don't appreciate or enjoy the hunt as much. My job is pretty stressful so this year I'm going to pace myself better so I enjoy the whole situation. The older I'm getting I realize more each hunting season that its more about spending time with friends and family then the hunt itself.

Good post! I didn't get drawn for CO like I had hoped-which isn't a bad thing. Sure does make the savings accounts look better.
I for sure will be hunting ML season in VA. The highlight for me this year. This will be the first time in 10 years I'll get to hunt again with my counsin (who is basically like a brother to me) We grew up huntin' together and it's been kinda weird to be in the woods w/out him the past few years.
I'll get out some in TN as well-though the huntin' here is not all that great. It's fun just to be out in God's beautiful creation nonetheless.
Not really looking to take anything specific. My wife, since having her galbladder removed can't eat red meat so I won't be taking any does for meat. It'll have to be a wall hanger for me to drop the hammer. But as long as I see a few deer while out, that'll be enough to satisfy me.
Good luck to everyone and God bless!

Hunting season is the highlight of the year. I always look forward to the hunt as well as the meat in the freezer. We are a family of 10 so I try to get quite a few deer ( usually around 8 or 10). Archery Antelope starts August 21st, then Sept 11th 2 of my boys have mentor tags so i hope to help them take a doe each. They are 10 and 12, so it is a first for them, Sept 25th I start Archery deer( I will be trophy hunting and meat hunting ), October a Wildlife Refuge deer hunt( meat hunt), Then the wife and I hunt for doe( meat hunt) , Nov is rifle season but I use a scoped muzzy. The wife and I both have tags for that,( it is a trophy and meat hunt) then Dec is Blackpowder season the wife and I both have tags, that runs til Jan 31st 2011, ( That is a trophy or meat hunt depending on how things have went) so come next month between bow and rifle and muzzy I get 5 months of hunting. My schedule allows me to go as often as i want and on any day that I choose. I can hardly wait .

Our son likes Pronghorn meat best of all over Elk,deer, or moose. Myself, i like the meat just fine. It is much better than a mule deer buck for sure.
To me, the interesting thing about Pronghorn, is the meat from a stinky smelly buck tastes real good. After i dress a nice buck, i can smell him for days afterward. When the meat hits the pan, it doesn't have that smell, and is quite tasty.
Years ago we put a mule deer buck steaks in the frying pan, and the steam coming off smelled like someone had dumped urine into the pan. I haven't brought a buck home to eat since.

I drew a quota hunt for Upper Hills WMA (FL) for muzzleloader, so my goal is to get my first black powder hog on a WMA this year. I missed a 75 yard shot last year & it's stuck in my mind, so I need to redeem myself this season.

Like Ron said ,Antelope taste real good. I like it better than Elk. As far as in the goat family ,that may be true but it doesn't taste like goat. I raise Boer meat goats and eat about 15 a year. Goat is my favorite meat. You should try it sometime. Deer is my second favorite and Antelope right after that..
