Default 50 vs 100

I am very new to muzzleloading and have a question about sighting in my scope to shoot 100 yds. I have a TC Encore with a Nikon ProStaff shooting 100 gr Triple 7 and pushing a 250gr SW super glide. I am getting good groups of three (allwithin an inch diameter)about 2-2.5 inches abouve the bull at 50 yrds. Can anyone tell me were the POA mightbe at 100 yds?

All you can do is try it. Mine hits about an inch and a half high at 50 yards and is normally right on at 100 yards. You should be close enough to adjust the scope real easy. It sounds like a very nice outfit you have there.

Same here. With a 100 grain load and 250 grain bullet sighted in for dead on at 100 yards, I'll be about two inches high at 50.

Actually I sight my rifles in for the distance I will most likely shoot at when hunting. For me that is 35 - 75 yards. And even 75 yardsis a far shot. The traditionals I normally sight in for 50 yards and the scoped inlines I sight in at 75. And I mean pound the bulls eye at that distance, not an inch over or under like my friends do. Then I start shooting them at other distances I might encounter and see where they hit. I shoot them from 15-125 yards. But I always know that at say.. 35 yards, I can aim dead on and let fly.

I received the TC as a x-mas gift last year from the in-laws and just recently purchased the scope this site has really helped me out not only in choosing but setting up my ML as well as bow. Cayugard when you site in at 75 you hit the bull 35 thru 75 yards?
This seems more like what I will be shooting.

Here's what has worked well for me. Those of us who have shot a bunch of black powder, ML know that the pressures can vary a bit and widen the range of muzzle velocities more so than smokeless. Just not quiet as precise.

So prior to every season I sight in dead on at 75 yards. I shoot probably 20-30 rounds and sort of "average" my 75 yard zero until I am satisfied I am about right on. I then check 5 shots each at 25 yard intervals out to 175 yards. I type these up on card stock. Laminate the "card". Tape it to the stock of my rifle just in case I had time to range, read and adjust.

Try this. I think you will be amazed at the arc.

For one thing it will depend on if you mounted your scope with high, low or medium rings. with medium rings it should cross up at about 30 yds be about 1 inch high at 50 and back on at 75 or 80. There are several things that will affect this so be sure and check it out. Lee

Sighted dead on at 75 might not put me dead bull at 35 yards but remember, the kill zone of a deer is bigger then the bulls eye. So it will put you with in inches up or down... the bullet will do the rest.

I've had no problems killing deer from 5 yards to 100 yards sighted in at 100...

And yes you can be very precise with a ML, but it takes a little more effort than most folks are willing to part with......

I dropped your numbers into http://www.sav10ml.com/pages/load_data/traj_basic_dat.html
with 150 zero 250g bullet 1800 MV and bc of .184, SW has listed BC of .210 for 250g but
Chuck Hawks says it is .184, so I will go with the more conservative figure. I believe your 3.4" high at 100. Your MPBR (Maximum Point Blank Range) aiming dead on is 175 yards, with this load. Need to verify the MV of 1800 fps, which is my guess as to what 100g 777 is shooting with 250g SW. I think your good with that.
