Obviously hit or miss with these pickups. My 05 Silverado gets 15 mpg, work truck model with the small V6. Sucks.

Well since We are telling ford truck screw jobs I have one too. I bought a new 74 F250 in July 1974. In 3 weeks that truck would smoke a big cloud of blue smoke after it had sat for a half hour or more. It would use a quart of oil going from where I lived 165 miles to my folks farm. Ford from two dealers (one where I lived to the one where my folks lived.) just kept giving me the run around. Have you ever had to have a service tec check you oil every week and note how much was gone? then refuse after 2000 miles to do any type of repair?
My brother had a new Bronco on order at the time. He went and cancled the order and bought a Jeep instead.
I finally tore the engine down my self, # 4 cylinder had a huge gouge in it where the wrist pin cur clip came loose and lay in the oil pan. Ford still refused to fix it since they said they were not the ones who tore the engine down.
Ya we were a Ford family at one time too. I am a firm believer in buying AMERICAN, but I will buy a Jap truck before I buy another ford.I don't know of one family member who drives Fords any more. Most have Jeeps or Dodge vans I and a brother in law have trucks with cummins in them. I'm on my third the other two had well over 150,000 when I sold them with no trouble at all getting high blue book for them. My current 2004.5 has 78,000 on it and I still get 18 MPG driving in the traffic light district of Detroit suburbs like Clintion township/ Mt Clemans.
Did talk to a Dodge big wig a month or so ago. He asked how I liked the truck. Told him they should start building trucks for country folks again so we could get even better fuel milage. Put the free wheeling hubs on the front again. Country folks don't mind getting out to lock them in. Give us a bigger/low number grear in the rear. 325 HP should be able to pull 323 rear for the 80% of the time we are not towing and we buy sticks so we can start the load in low when we are towing 20% of the time.
If we tow more than that then give use a couple of otherratios to choose from.

Sorry you had so many honey doos to do and could not shoot. I keep telling people there isn't anything honey about those list so why do you call them that?

i bought a new 78 ford 150 in fall of 77. used oil from the start and had bad piston slap. so after 7 qts of oil and complaints to dealer. they said bring it in and we will change oil and filter. they said call us after you drive 2000 more miles. i had their service manager put that in writing and he signed it. 4 days later and abit over 500 miles i called them. told them to send tow truck as truck had thrown a rod thru block. they put a new engine in it. the other one was like i had told them from jump street. no rings on any of the pistons!
