This is my favorite time of the year. Meat hunting time with the MZ's. My new Knight Long Range Hunter is no longer a virgin. I shot my first deer(doe) with it on Tuesday. It was a nice plump yearling doe. I had to quarter it this evening, I could not let it hang. It is 65 degrees here in WV this afternoon. It is boned out and in the refrigerator.
I would like to say that it was an earth shattering, long range, ultra hard shot. However it was a simple 50 yard, broadside shot, at a doe standing still, looking the other way. I put the bullet(Barnes) in the off side shoulder. Pass through shot, no bullet recovery. The doe never took a step. The best part is that with all the tag's you get in WV, I will be back at it tomorrow.
I tried to download pictures to photobucket, but for some reason I have been unable to down load onto photobucket over the last couple of weeks. Tom.

Congratulations of the doe. All to often we expect the worst case scenario when we hunt, and prepare ourselves for that.. only to discover the easy shots come our way. Maybe next time the shot will be more of a challenge. You have a great rifle and a great load there... Way to go. Now go get another.
