After years of spending $70 per deer to get it processed I started processing my own 2 years ago. I had a deer hanging to be processed and came across a electic meat grinder on sale for $70 at Cabelas. Figured if I only processed one deer with it then its paid for itself. It can also stuff sausage. Processingdeer is notthe most pleasant job in the world but thats part of hunting. Its really not all that hard to process deer.

Me and my brother do all of our own and as we are processing, any scraps or tougher cuts go to a meat locker for salami, brats, and burger

i do all my deer myself with help from some buds., we do not take any to the locker plant ., my buddy has the stuffer and we do the sticks and sausage over there ., and i have the grinder and all the knives ,(i was a meat cutter for 10 year) so it does help., and yes it does save $$$$ doing it yourself.,i even thought about doing some deer on the side and make extra cash ., but ., it is right during deer season., and i want to be in the woods!!!

We skin, debone and take out what we want for steaks. The rest we take to a butcher and get venny sausage, sticks and a couple other things made. It's still expensive, but we take a good amount of the cost out of it doing it that way.
