My SS Encore .45 wouldn't keep any conical I tried inside a bushel basket at 50 yards until it was chopped and crowned (grinding ball crown). Shoots just fine now. QLA isan okayidea - only if it is perfectly done. David White does a pretty good number of TC barrel chops and recrowns - have yet to read of anyone not getting a substantial increase in accuracy afterwards. How tight a bore is has little to do with how well it shoots IMHO. What matters a great deal moreis the internal consistency of the rifling and the geometry ofa well-done crown. If those factors are lacking (my first .45 Encore barrelfelt like a washboard to a tight patch), the barrel is not going to show you much by way of accuracy. Sabot carried bullets are more forgiving of poorly done barrels, apparently because of the verypliant behavior of plastic. But sabot loads will also benefit a great deal when a barrel is properly bored and crowned.

Tightness of bore can have a great deal to do withload selection. Muzzleloaders of even the same brand/model tend to vary from one rifle to the next so far as bore dimensions. That inconsistency is, arguably, part of what makes load experimentation both fun and challenging. Itcan also be derned frustrating. Some manufacturers do much better in holding the line on bore tolerance than do others. TC has not been one of those manufacturers based upon my own observations. Perhaps the Pro Hunter is a turnaround forthem as the few I've read reports on seem to be consistent and very well done.

Bump.

ORIGINAL: Triple Se7en

The Omega is a sabot gun. Ask any T/C gun tech/head-honchofor verification on that. Trying to lure in a conical into this computation won't work cascadedad.

Accuracy is not only one parameter.... it's by-far the greatest parameter to those folks that say....
"The secret to T/C tight boreswith Omegasis their outstanding accuracy".

One part of the correct parameter for any ML is the proper choice of bullet & attached components to that bullet. In this case involving T/C Omegas, tight bores, tested T/C packaged bullets and the quality/ability of the bore wall construction, breechplug design & hammer execution allare part of the Omega steering wheel to very good accuracy.

Further proof of all this is seeing the lights on at the Omega factory 24/7 - folks still working overtime there like five years later - trying to keep up with demand. That's unheard-of in this business -- with an ML that's more than entry-level priced. There's a difference bertween quality demand and price/entry-level demand.... but tha's an entirely different subject -- for another time.
Just like you said, you want to make a point by quoting "folks", tell us who the "folks" are. Post a link, name a book, name a magazine article, or something, or otherwise just state it as your own opinion.

My Gosh cascadedad... can't you read properly?

My post says to call T/C Inc and ask for any guntech. Then ask the techthe same question as to which bullet is proper medicine for the Omega... ie... conical or sabot.. After he provides you with the answer, ask for a name of a 2nd gun tech there.... then a 3rd. Call each one till you are blue in the face.

You cannot even decipher pretty simple English that I provided in my post here? Can't seem to follow simple directions?

Lastly, I don't have to provide any real person name-quotes to you anyways. I prefer to provide such info to folks whodon't come to messageboards like this one to talk nonsense/drivelin poster-replies -in the manner both you and Frontier Gander do.

Take a long walk down a short pier with your buddy. If you or Ganderdesire any info from me in the future, email/PM me-only.I haven't used my "Delete" button recently. I could use the practice there.

So, does that mean you won't tell me who the "folks" are?
