I like pass throughs too, they will always do the job. With that big 54 and 100 grains powder, I don't think you have trail an elk far before he falls, if he runs at all.

If many elk and deer have been killed with the 50cal roundball over the past couple 100 years then a 54cal ball-et can also kill deer and elk only better. I might just stay with the big heavy conicals for now. If I can get good accuracy out of that 435gr Buffalo Bullet that will take down anything in North America. I can use it for elk, moose, caribou, bison, whatever.

I've tried them but just can't get them to shoot worth a darn out of my Lymans. I'll just have to stick with round balls and maxi's out of my rifles.
