Nice bullet for shooting smokeless at that speed.

sabotloader,I was using 130 of APP,my Omega will shoot 150 accuratly but I thought that most muzzle loading and pistol bullets were designed for a max of 2000 fps. Lee
No way push them till the jackets come off.

I've shot several deer with both the 250 & 300 grain regular SST'sand have never seen anything like that on an entrance wound. Even on a shoulder shot. Obviously something (Spine?) cause the projectile to "detonate".

Looks like a bunch of waisted meat. I would prefer a different kill zone such as the heart or lungs.

That is where the bullet was heading when it tried entering...(remember I was shooting over its back as it was running away up a hill, unfortunately the bullet never made it into the body cavity...)

Herman, this is what I was talking about, I tested them quite well evan under hunting conditions and live hogs and they had very reliable expansion and deep penatration with my Omega [1-28 and my system one 1-38 twists] Lee

I still have tried the bonded yet because for only deer I really have no need to try them.
When the sst's first came out I took 2 deer with the 200 grand one with a barnes 195 grwith my encore 50 cal.All were complete pass throughs but the barnes didn't open up and didn't find the deer untill days later(17in 8 pointer)haven't used one of those since. With the 200 sst they made about the same hole size in and out as my 250 gr does out of the savage. So if anyone is thinking of trying the 200 for deer they worked for me.
Tried the 200 gr xtps monday out of the encore and they shot very good at 100 yds after I got it zeroed in,so they should shoot well at 200 will find out when I get a chance. They wouldn't group as good with the T-7 up to 130 grs but they like the pyro-select at 120 grs.
I have taken several deer using a nosler 185 gr bullet out of a ruger 77/50 cal and they worked good so the 200 gr xtp should work equally as well for deer.
Have tried to get the 200 sst's to shoot out of the savage useing many different powders but couldn't get any accuracy,it just blows the sabot.
the bottom 4 shots plus a couple off the paper was adjusting the scope.

Herman, I have had excellant groups with SW 250 & 200 and all my testing and hunting [7/8inch to 1 inch] mostly mediuns of different kinds and deer with one boar have given excellent results but once in a while some one with a Savage 10ml has one blow usually hitting the spine or shoulder bone.
I am inclined to believe that the faster twist and higher velocity is close to the top end that they are designed for,it is also my belief that with the correct bullet placement considering the velocity and twist being used that they will give excellant results. Lee
