Congratulation to your son!! WOW he will fill the freezer for you. That deer there, I would skin and not let anyone but myself eat. That looks like the perfect eating deer. Those little ones are so tender. Way to go young man.

Many years ago a friend's boy was hunting with me (Dad had to work, kid was off school and wanted to hunt, and I was playing hooky as well) soI told him to do the shooting. Three deer came in one good sized one and two small ones. He asked me which one and I told him to choose. Well needless to say after I gutted it, I grabbed it by the fur on the backbone and carried it out like a large suit case back to the truck. I never ate anything that good in my life as that little doe he shot. We call them a Weber. Because you skin them out, cut them up and stick the whole thing on a weber grill. That one looks a little bigger then that, but those smaller deer are sure good on the dinner table.

i forgot to say he got it on the third shot ,first two just made it look toward the shooting house,he said after the smoke cleared it took off and he dropped it running. he made a neck shot. His papaw fixed a target and he shot it about 8 times hitting the bullseye 2 times at 50 feet and the rest hit in the first circle all around the center of the bullseye,he is shooting a 45 ca. ml. with a 38 cal bullet and 70 gr of powder. The little gun does not even kick,he started out the season using a charge of 45 to 50 grs of powder, but the deer have been coming out a little to far for a small powder charge,so his uncle bob changed his powder up to the 70 grs. The bullet hit the deer in the neck and killed him in his tracks. Thats his uncle bob with him in the photo. Last week they had 12 kids hunting on there club but only one girl got a shot and missed. Bob said he thinks the one haley shot was the one the little girl missed. I could not belive the guns some of the fathers brought for their kidds to shoot,30-30's and one even brought a 30-06,all the kids were 14 and younger,my son is 7 and this is his third deer this season with a smoke pole,my wife told him she was going to hide his gun cause we an't got no more freezer space,my boy said if he got another he was going to give it to his friend that lives down the road. His friend is a 75 yearold black lady that sits on the porch all day and rocks in her chair. Haley gave her a tender loin out of his last dear, and she thinks the world of him. we all hope that the new year will last forever and all have a better time this year than last year.
