Default American Pioneer Sticks

Has anyone used the new powder sticks and how to they compare to the pellets.
And how about those new Rem. primers. I just bought my first M.L from Cabelas's .Our Gun shops don't stock very much for the 45 cal. so I guess Iam
going to have to order my powder and yes pay the handling fee . Thank You

Edggy what influenced your decision to buy a .45 caliber as opposed to a .50 caliber? I too am new to the blackpowder world and have a .50 caliber on order ( should be here tomorrow depending on Ophelia ).

I bought some of the sticks and after looking at how irregular they were I weighed some and found the variation in weight so great I cannot believe that they are consistent and consequently I only shot a few and went back to loose powder which I really prefer anyway. I have tried pellets from Hodgdon and cannot see any reason to use them instead of loose powder. I don't even find them any more easy to use as long as you measure your charges previousto your shooting and store them in small containers. I use small plastic bottles that the neck fits the bore of my .50 caliber so I just dump the charge. I don't even have to figure out which side is up on loose powder. I think the sticks are not worth the money and I cannot believe that they are consistent.
