I talked to the Wyoming Game & Fish today. They told me they had left over elk tags for sale. I am looking at area-50, archery only, either sex elk tags?
Any input would be a great help.
Has anyone on this board ever hunted in or around area-50?

Hi there, I have just moved to Cody from back east and I also put in for unit 50 it looks like only 5 residents applied on the first draw so I think it should be an easy draw...,do you live in Wy? I am planning to go take a look in the unit to see what is up, I also have a Moose tag for unit 16 and an elk hunt in Colorado in mid Oct and a deer tag in N.W Wy...gonna be a busy fall!!!

I hunted area 50 one time and got snowed out so I' m not much help. The terrain is any thing from river bottoms to above timberline. I' ve heard it' s a good area for late season, but I don' t know of anyone who bow hunts it.

WATCH OUT FOR THE GRIZZLIES. There more is than one or two of them there LOL. Most of the trouble bears they catch around here are taken into that area.

One other thing I forgot to tell you, there' s a fire in the deep creek area thats been burning for a week or so. I think it' s burned about 6000 acres so far. It' s only 15 percent contained so it will burn for a while longer.
