boy do i feel under geared, i do like to travel ultra light, so this is what i usually take with me on a day trip with the options of a overnighter (which has happened once or twice), all of this i fit into my daypack which is just a little larger than a backpack that you probably used in highschool or college.
2 32oz nalgene bottles of water
1 emergency space blanket
2 packages of handwarmers
granola
magnesium fire starter
3/8 inch rope
folding saw
4inch carbon skinner
contact lense case and glasses ( a priorty for my blind behind)
rifle and ammo
lint from the laundry,
lifeboat matches
spare socks
i don;t really worry too much about cooking, just making it through the night. the lowest temp i had to go through was -5, and it was damm cold. i had to sleep with my water in my little nest of fir branches and space blanket to keep it from freezing.
just my two cents worth

the thrill of the hunt is more important than the kill

Hi Group,

Boy I feel under packed now, I carry my hunting knives, ( one large bowie style, its a great bruch clearer and it holds an edge like no other knife Ive owned, besides it was my grandads and I cant bear to not take it. and a gerber folding knife. ) A small first aid kit, 24 oz water bottle, game bags and a flashlight. Wish I could get some of the other stuff, but $$ wont allow it. ( IE the water filters and the Saw )
By the way, HK45USP, whats your callsign, I am N7HQY

Just my uneducated opinion!
