I have worn Meindl boots for close to 20 years. I also recently bought a pair of danner Pronghorns(uninsulated). The Pronghorns are a nice boot, lightweight, comfortable(after minimal break-in), but they aren't near the boot as my Meindl's. The ankle support of the Meindl's is superb and they required zero break-in. I wore the same pair of Meindls for close to 15 seasons without an issue, the Vibram soles are still in fair shape, but I believe the pair of Meindl Taiga's will get retired after an upcoming elk hunting trip. They will be replaced with another pair of Meindl's, just haven't decided which particular boot yet.

I like Meindle Perfekt Hunters. Substantially zero break-in. Comfortable but still solid for mountain hiking, climbing. The other boot recommendation I would have -- a backpacking boot -- is the Limmer Standard. This is a very stout backpacking boot, good for rocky terrain carrying heavy loads on your back. Expensive -- $325/pair. Also . . . it turns out they are manufactured for Limmer in Germany by Meindle. They are great boots, but unlike the Perfekt Hunters, they have no insulation and are pretty cold when it gets to about 20 degrees outside. This is the extent of my personal experience with boots.

Lacrosse and Danner are both top notch. I LOVE my recently bought uninsulated danner pronghorns.
Ill likely get a pair of the danner jackals for stalking once I find a good deal on some.
