Yes, it is 3" above the line of site, and 3" below the line of site centering the cross hairs on the animal.

I would say more like the size of a pie plate...

I'd stick with some 150gr bullets out of your 308. I'd sight in 2" high at 100 yards. I'd use some Nosler Ballistic tips as well.

I shot my first pronghorn a few years back with a 140gr Nosler AccuBond out of a 7mm Rem Mag, it made a mess out of it. This fall I will be toting my 25WSSM.

I've hunted antelope in MT and WY several times and have shot them with a .243, .270, and 7mm. The farthest was about 250 yards and the closest less than 50. If the topography is friendly where you're going, you may be able to wiggle in pretty close. Give it a try - if it doesn't work the first 10 times, number 11 might be the successful one. You'll probably be seeing lots of animals all day long and a few blown stalks may not matter. Regardless, it's super fun.

These guys are fun to hunt. I've been able to get them with in 100 yards by waving a white flag. They are very curious and want to see what is waving in the wind. I think the pronghorn believe the flag is another goat.
