Shipping Game?
Wondering how/who other people have had success with in shipping their game meat in the lower 48? My elk processing will be finished in AZ in about a week and I need to get it to MN. Any ideas or suggestions? I'm not driving back there until May and I want the meat sooner than that!!! Thanks for any thoughts!

Can't the processor help? If you could get them to put the meat in double walled boxes, double wraped in newspaper, and some dry ice spread over, FedEx Ground would have it to you in 3-4 business days.
The dry ice may not be allowed. Even though, the newspaper and thick cardboard should keep the meat froze enough. Especially this time of year! Meat can be safely refroze when it has stayed cold in the center of steaks/meat. It's only after thawing out to near room temps that it is not recommended to re-freeze.

RE: Shipping Game?
Thanks for the input!! Yes, I could have had the processor ship it, but at that price and the fact I will be going to AZ in a few months I was trying to avoid the $$$! After looking at all the major companies (FedX, UPS, DHL) the going rate is right at $4 a pound for overnight...WOW! I guess unless I find something a little more reasonable in the interim, my only venison for a while will be whitetail...oh darn! Thanks again!!
