moose either pill should be a great bullet in your 06. The Failsafe is actually closer in performance and toughness too the Barnes X Bullet (basically it is a copy with only a few changes for patent reasons and cheaper production) than the Accubond. The AB should be the most accurate in most rifles, but I had some dandy groups with 140 Failsafes in one of my 7mags in years past. For outright punching holes in elk and moose, especially with a low velocity round like a 180 06, I would recommend the Failsafe of the two you asked about!
Good luck,

I've taken 3 elk with the 180gr failsafes (no moose and don't use em for deer). It has been my experience that they go completely through an elk, regardless of shot angle. IMO they are a great bullet forelk, and would work equally well on moose. I bought another 30-06 (Win M70 Classic Stainless)a few days back, and will shoot both the failsafes and some 180gr NP to see which is most accurate.Either will cleanly take elk if the shooter does his part.

I would choose the AccuBond since you will be hunting deer with this round too. The Fail Safe is great but it will hardly open on a broadside shot at a whitetail. Also the 30-06 in factory form on propels 180 gr. bullets at 2600-2700 fps and I've even seen velocity lower than this out of some rifles. You need a fair amount of velocity for the Fail Safe to expand unless you practice shoulder shots. The Fail Safe will only shed maybe 2% of its weight while the AB is designed to shed about 30%. In most rifles I would think the AB would probably be the most accurate.

I have had nothing, but good luck, with the 180 grain failsafes in deer. I couldn't tell you much about expansion on weight retention because I have never gotten one back. All have gone completely through. That includes a shot last December from throat to bung hole. I couldn't imagine a better bullet for moose if you're using the 30-06. I have never had a deer go more than about 40 yards after taking one of those in the boiler room, and most deer just drop and quiver.
