dont have to worry they are on that hill every year. last year there were 6 long beards on it. not sure how many are there right now but i am sure he will be there come season. i have never hunted them there nor has anyone else. the land owner has a job that takes him out of town alot and he is not a turkey hunter. even though there has been alot of birds there evey year i enjoy public hunting and tagging out on public so i just go and watch and listen to those birds. but not this year. that bird has gotten my attention and will also be giving up the ghost in 4.5 weeks.

Nothing today, not even a gobble. We heard a bird hammering yesterday on the way out, so we decided to set up on him this morning.
We spent the first 4 hours set up where we heard the bird the day before with no action, on the way out we saw a pile of feathers and figured some one shot that bird yesterday after we left. So we wasted the whole morning.
Back at it in the morning.

I hope you are right snapper.. Here they tend to travel just before our season starts. Sometimes in the places we find them the year before will not produce as they have traveled elsewhere. But normally they will not be all that far away. I saw a large flock of them in a field this morning and drove back to get my camera. When I got there none out. They were right in town though and I do not hunt those ones. But at the same time they will spread out a long ways once they start breeding.

We are sorry to hear about your luck John. But, at least you were able to get back out. That is the only way I know how to get a turkey is by getting out there and doing some calling. Good luck to you and I hope you are able to call in a nice bird..

Ive seen around a dozen last couple days where I want to hunt...today I saw one with at least a 9-10 inch beard...it looked like a Merriam turkey... as it had lots of brown on it...but all I could do is sit and watch them... til the 15th of April
