She went out into the field further and stopped at 35 yards broadside. The 2nd shot lunged her and she ran about 60 yards before she dropped. Another 25 pts for team 7.

Very nice, congratulations!!! We are definitely securing a lead. Keep up the good work.

sdhunter11 10-05-2012 06:21 PM

congrats on the doe jason!!

I went out this evening and didnt have much for deer come in, I did have a bobcat come in to about 12 yards and wandered around the draw, he even rolled around in the dirt for awhile, really cool to watch. First wild bobcat i have ever seen.

Im heading back out in the morning. going to see if i cant find that mule deer herd just north of town and try some stalking.

On_Point 10-05-2012 06:58 PM

Good luck to ya Marty. Like you, I will also be afield tomorrow, & sunday as well. The forecast for both days are low temps just above freezing with highs in the mid 50s, calm winds & clear skies. Im psyched!

And to the rest of ya who will be afield over the weekend, good luck to ya & be safe. Lets secure that 1st place lead yall!!!

On_Point 10-06-2012 01:19 AM

Well fellas, Im heading out into the frosty morn, yall have a good one & good luck.

Arkansasmountainman 10-06-2012 08:55 AM

Congrats on the deer guys!! Well the weather went from 80 degrees to spitting flurries!! AND GUESS WHERE IM AT???????? At the house with the kids!!! WHy does a front have to break on a day that i can not go hunting

Mottz 10-06-2012 09:02 AM

I'm hoping to get out for an evening hunt. Temp for tonight is 40's dropping into the 20's. That might mean I'll miss the beginning of the Husker/Ohio St game. Otherwise I'll be out in the morn.

Ark, don't worry about missing a day of hunting. Hunting will always be there, spend time with the kids while you can. And before long, take em with ya.

Mottz 10-06-2012 09:03 AM

Oh, and congrats to everyone so far that have got some deer on the ground. Keep it up!!

On_Point 10-06-2012 10:22 AM

Well, Im back home now & going to miss a great evening hunt. Mommas gotta work graveyard tonight & again tomorrow night so I wont be back out until monday evening. 8(

Saw 16 does this morning moving down the edge of the timber & crp just at 70 yards from my set. They never knew I was there, so I picked a new tree to put my climber in, about 50 yards closer to the crp edge. Tuesday morning somethings gonna die on that trail. >;)

jemrami9 10-06-2012 10:56 AM

wow busy week here, I need to get caught up.... Went out last night, just does. Doing a little fine tuning for later this month stand location wise... I will be out monday, more to follow!

On_Point 10-06-2012 11:49 AM

Mottz 10-06-2012 07:28 PM

But had an interesting evening hunt. Got to my spot at 4:15 to see 2 does standing under one of my stands in the cut beans. I sat and watched and debated if I should sit in that stand or go to the one I sat in last week. I decided to wait til the 2 does moved on and went and sat in that stand. Perfect wind. Wasn't to long and I had a family of coons right under my stand, seen a couple turkeys, then caught a glimpse of a buck directly downwind of me about 200 yds away. In the area of the other stand. Forgot the binocs in the truck but I could see his rack from where I was at. So I knew he was nice. It was getting real close to sundown and I had to decide if I should make a sneak on him. He was down in a ravine and the upper field is alot higher. And the wind was favorable so I was going to try it. Start climbin down my ladder and a deer goes tearing by me. I just shook my head cause I knew I'd screw something up. Put my feet on the ground and grabbed my bow and I was 5 yards across the fence from 2 coyotes. They seen me and took off. Directly at the buck. He didn't spook as much as I thought he would but he did move off before I could make the sneak to him.

But, wondering if he came from where I thought he did, I checked my cam. And just as I thought. He was at the other stand. My judgement failed me again

Here he is. Any good score guessers out there want to give me an estimate of him? Just so I can beat myself senseless!!

On_Point 10-06-2012 08:32 PM

Its hard to tell what kind of mass he has, but his spread is 18"+ Id bet. Depending on his mass Im guessing upper 120 to mid 130s. He doesnt look to be 2 or 3 yrs old even so in another year or two he could be a dandy 150. Cool buck, hope ya put him down.

Mottz 10-07-2012 06:48 AM

I was guessing 120, but another guy i know guessed 115. Maybe I'll get another chance at him and put a tape to those antlers and see who is the closest.

Thats the plan my friend. 8)

Ive seen & passed on alot of 110 & 120 & he doesnt look like them. He's got a little more mass on the tines. 110-115s are skinny little tines, with tight racks & he aint sportin pencil size tines or a tight basket. I think youll be suprised when ya put the tape to him.

Got a doe this morning. Having trouble uploading pics from the phone

Congratulations Kelly!!!

As for uploading from your phone, good luck with that one. Youll probably have to upload it from your home pc.

Again, congrats on the doe. Team Pass Thru is in 1st place & steadily securing the lead. We have more kills that any other team also. Just wait till we start putting antler on the scoreboard. Im expecting over a thousand inches of antler on our scorecard by seasons end. But keep on knockin down the early season slick-heads, its great practice & builds confidence for those buck fever shots later in the season.

Mottz 10-07-2012 11:54 AM

Nice job kelly! What I do for phone pics is send them in an email to my computer and then upload it to photobucket and then to here. If that helps ya any.

sdhunter11 10-08-2012 05:38 AM

Went out yesterday evening again and didnt see any bucks, I think the october lull is setting in. I did manage to get a coyote though. He was pestering a porcupine about 12 yards away from my stand. I think the porcupine would have won anyway but i figured id help him out.

On_Point 10-08-2012 06:28 AM

Sounds fun Marty. Im headin out here in an hour or two & going to hunt till dark. Hoping to arrow a doe or two.

dmax4me 10-08-2012 05:36 PM

No luck this weekend in Ohio. Friday evening thru Sunday morning only seen 4 deer.
My father and brother-inlaw didn't even see a deer. This was our first time hunting in Harrison County. We found out that there are even more hunters on this property.
Not to sure we will hunt it again.
Will get out this week here at home.

Claude485 10-09-2012 12:16 AM

Great to see ya back again. It looks like we're putting the old team back together.

Outdoorcountry 10-09-2012 06:05 AM

Nothing down over the weekend. The only buck I've seen so far is a spike. I guess I'm going to fill the freezer with doe tags until the rut shows up and gets these bucks off their beds mid-day.

Greetings! Ok time to get caught up here a little bit. Congrats to everyone cashing in on the does. I went Monday. Very windy. Laid an egg and airmailed a clean 30 yd shot over the top of a sassy doe. Gotta love that one. User error on my part, I will try agian. The weekend hunt got messed up due to the Wi youth hunt going on. Gotta sport the blaze orange during that time even though no one was hunting by me. I utilized that Sunday to get a check on the camera over by the honey hole stand. Had some great pictures! I will post shortly after doing the download. Had to sort through over a 1000 pictures of all sorts of deer and skunks and turkeys ets. Quite a variety of wildlife over the September timeframe. The good news is I have 3 or 4 bucks that make regular appearances all year. The bad news is that I have not got a picture of the halo buck since August. Go figure, that kinda sucks. There are decent shooters still. Guard drill this weekend then back to the woods after the 14th. Like I said earlier, I usually dont start hitting the woods till mid October anyway so things will be on the up and up. Got the miss out of the system already too. Same thing happened last year. Clean miss on a nice 8pt at 30 yds but cashed in next time out. Hope that trend continues! Pleasure to be here chatting it up though and sharing the stories with you guys.

Thanks! Yeah, I'm pretty happy about that spot. Took a couple years to figure out some sort of pattern but I think I finally cracked it. Now all I gotta do is cash in....

Mottz 10-09-2012 06:05 PM

This is a deer that showed up on my facebook under Chasing Trophy Whitetails. What a close resemblance!

On_Point 10-09-2012 06:07 PM

That is for sure. I'm glad you like the pictures. Im glad that there are still some good bucks hanging around. Usually they disappear by the time Sep rolls around. The only one that hasnt been around was that halo buck. We will see what October brings.

Mottz 10-09-2012 06:41 PM

jem, the deer you have are dandys!!! If I had something like that show up on my cam I'd crap myself! I hope you get that bad boy down.

When I seen your pic I thought, I just seen that pic. I thought you posted it somewhere else also. And looking at them I thought they were the same but I see they are not. Just seems eerie seeing 2 bucks so close in appearance.
