The cooler weather has deer moving around here. I went into an oak grove yesterday afternoon, and spooked out an modest 8 ptr (non-shooter) who was already in there with another buck. I had a few young does come in range the last 1/2 hr - maybe next time they won't be so lucky. My cams showed other deer moving in the late afternoon.

Saw a couple bucks that would have been good for me but unfortunatly they saw me first..lol I was checkin out the turkeys flyin up to the roost while the bucks were checkin me out from 15 yards out thru some pretty tall grass. I was huntin off the ground without a blind.

I didn't get out there Sat morning. The wife had a blow out friday night and tore the front end up of her car pretty good. We didn't get it towed back till after 4am. Then to top the weekend off right I got a flat tire on the truck while leaving the public land.

I think I have used all my bad luck up for this season so I should be up great one..

Just refer to those as minor set-backs.

my truck wasn't cooperating w/ me either. i broke down saturday afternoon on the side of the highway. had it towed, got a loaner, and still had time to drive to wisconsin and hunt for a little while. didn't see anything in 3 hunts in wisconsin. it was friggin hot today, that didn't help much. hoping for some cooler weather...

great attitude, Kellyguinn. May your season be filled with great and pleasant surprises to compensate for the negative ones!

Saturday night this guy came in. It was my night to film for my pal. We both agreed that he needs one more year.

If you were the big bad wolf from little red riding hood, I would say, "My, what a big "restraint" you have!" wow...I agree with Rackluster...I think I would have shot him....but then, you did so with your camera. I'm glad u had fun!

I would have had a hard time letting him walk. He's a nice one but I agree, if he makes it this year he will be one to watch for next year.

May the deer gods bless you for your restrain robow!

The Navy Base finally opened up and I got out Monday afternoon in the eab area. I had a 3 1/2 yr 8 pt feed in the red oaks at 15 yds, but I didn't have a doe yet, and he was not a herd bull anyway.
