Out of habit....will the deer still come to the oaks looking for acorns ?

They will browse through the oaks on their way to their other foods. But if there arn't enough acorns then they wont really hang around at all just walking through.

I actually put a food plot right in the middle of my acorn patch. Not a big one but big enough to hold afew of deer. They have to go through mine no matter what cause its basically a funnel between bedding and staging areas with a creek bordering it.

Without any crops around (just hay fields), I assume they just browse around the woods. I live and hunt among the some hardwoods....oaks,maple,hickory,ash,buckeyes. I am trying the foodplot thing this year. Just two small 1000sq ft ones. One in the woods and one along the clearing for the power lines. I went with full draw and some mix with turnips in it. Hopeing for some rain (we're about 2.5 to 3 inches behind this month:() to get them started.

I hear nothing but good things about KY... A hidden treasure!
Nothing like hunting good 'Ol Massachusetts! Very slow hunting around here, unless you find one of those rare honey holes.
Considering the area of Mass I am in and the type of land I hunt, some small private areas abutting state land and state land, we do pretty good for ourselves.
I would like to get out to the midwest for a couple of weeks sometime over the next couple of years... Maybe Ohio, etc...

Any deer w/ the bow in this area is a trophy, believe it or not...
