Thats one of my biggest pet peeves. I see so many poeple worrying about elevation when clothing is one of the biggest problems with accuracy as the season prgresses. I have been actively practicing in full camo for almost a month now. I will also jog around the house once and then pick up my bow and make a shot to simulate the ruch of having a deer in range. shortness of breath, increased heart rate. i think its really improved my overall accuracy.

but when it gets cold i use a "pop-top" glove on my shooting hand.
ditto...
as for gloves... I use the Mossy Oak Pass through gloves and practice shooting year round with them on. They are not super warm, but warm enough to fight of cold October & November AM hunting...

I've been shooting a few arrowsper day now w/ broadheads.... getting ready for the bears..

My wife's 13 year old cousin caught a nice pike last night. He is the one that I am bringing bear hunting for the first time this season.

Went out and did some quick deer scouting yesterday. A couple of small close to home spots have some terrific sign. I put some Deer Caine out a few weeks back and that spot has had some activity. I added a time release block to it.
The other spot I added a gallon as well.

We'll see. I'll put the cameras out once they are being hit well.

I moved my camera last week and checked it yesterday. Had a small doe in some pics and a fawn in some others.

Erik, how long does it usually take for them to start hitting the deer caine ? I'm trying some for the first time. After a week it doesn't look like much activity near it. Put out a block and poured some of the liquid on it. Haven't had rain in 2 1/2 weeks though. I think I remember something about rain helps to "activate" it.

yea once the rain hits it, it will really start kicking.
I just went out and freshened up one of my sights and got one of my fall/winter food plots ready to plant.

Sometime if ya wanna speed it up i take a CLEAN srayer with me and spray it down.

The last caine i put out they dug a hole that was a foot deep and kept coming back for a full year.

On a high note I saw a pretty good deer the other day no pics of him yet but he looks like one i took a couple years ago.

Any luck with the missing entry flstnhd? Hopefully he will check in soon so we will have a full team. Good luck with your scouting its just a few short weeks before we can get started. Chris

No, haven't heard from SDarcher. I sent him a pm and emailed him, but no response. Still shows the last time he logged on was 8/9/08. Hopefully we'll hear from him soon. If not it looks like there are plenty of alternates to be asigned. I'll email him again.

There is usually one who doesn't check in... let's hope he does..
Usually a couple of weeks on the caine... One sight has been out for 3 weeks, getting hit, but not hard... I won't check either site now until late September... Just gonna let it be. When I leave for my moose hunt I will put my cameras out on the 2 sites. Hopefully they will be very active by then.

Wow, almost a whole day with nothing in the thread......

So dry around me right now that the acorns are starting to drop already, which is a good thing? cause all the oaks are on the neighbors land, all we got is corn/clover/bedding areas ;)

Starting to get a bit of chill in the morning (49degrees out right now) fall is coming......

That is a great feeling, isn't it Wiaxle. I was thinking the same thing this AM when I got up.
Do you guys have lots of apples? There are apples, beach nuts, & acorns everywhere this year up here.

I spent most of the day yesterday clearing out someshooting lanes on one of my stand that i use toward the end of the prerut after the crops have been harvested. its right in the middle of a huge acorn stand. but like you said some are already starting to fall. may have to push up the use of this stand.

I'm not seeing many acorns this year:( I'm thinking last years drought may have affected them ?
