I used the compound on this one. Story & pic over in the regular bowhunting section. This week the longbow will come out and hopefully I can ambush some does coming to feed in the beans or acorns. There is a nice stand of oaks between a bedding area and my uncle’s bean field. We’ll see how it goes.

Rybo, great work on the doe, and best of luck to you this weekend with the longbow.
I myself am having a hard time getting my doe on the ground. I have hunted three times, which i am surprised by the lack of times i have been out there. Work has been unbelievably busy, but by owning our own company, that is a good thing. Luckily for me, the next couple weeks will be slower. Im planning on hunting tomorrow nigh, friday night and sat morning. A doe will go down one of those hunts, i can feel it. I also hunted this morning and had 2 does and 4 fawns within 15 yards of me, but unfortunately they never came in a shooting lane. Oh well, it was action.
Hope all is well with everyone, best of luck to everyone and ill keep you all updated on the next few hunts.

Pretty quiet outta you guys.
I;ve been hunting with the longbow this week. Have came close a couple times but no shots. I'm trying to hunt from the ground too. Longbow, ground hunting, bright moonand 80 degree temps are making me work for it.
Our regular season comes in this weekend i will have the compound again but will continue alternating wheels & stick depending on my mood.

Hey there team, didnt hunt this past weekend, just too darn hot, but i did get out on thursday afternoon and saw 14 deer, with 8 of those being bucks. 2 looked to be shooters, but they never came close enough to tell for sure. I passed on a beautiful 7 point which was just too young. If he makes it through the season he is going to be a hammer next year. Hopefully this weather will start to cool down but it looks like its going to be in the mid 80's for most of this week.

I'm ready boys! Went out last night and got a couple tags. Four more mornings left and I'll be out there ready to Thwack some does. Looks like the weather isn't going to be too bad. 72 on Sat. lows down in the 50's, same thing for Sun. Wouldn't mind gettin a little rain on Thursday and Fri. Everyone else ready to go?

Whats happening team, hope all are well. This massive heat wave we are having here is really messing me up. Im planning on hunting tomorrow morning, thursday night, possibly friday morning and then sometime on sat if the weather allows for it. The last time i hunted was a great night, the one thing i couldnt figure out was the deer were not hitting the acorns yet. It sounded like it was raining where i was cause of all the acorns falling, but the deer didnt seem to want them. They just walked right past going to where ever it was they were going. Any ideas?

Do you have beans or other agriculture they may be headed too? Also maybe they knew where the white oaks were and yours were red or pin? It definitely is a big year for acorns here. sometimes that's not the easiest hunting, cause they can get them anywhere.
Today should be the last of the high heat for me. I'll be out for does wed-friday and our main season starts Saturday. We'll see how it goes, I'm not really sure what I want to do on saturday as far as where to go.

Hey there guys, been real busy with life etc etc. My 15 year old son decided to bowhunt this year so I have been helping him pick a stand spot on the small plot of woods I got permission to hunt on. Long story short, he tells me yesterday that he does not think he got the upper strap on the ladder stand tight enough when we put up his stand last week. So being the concerned parent i am LoL.............. I drive the 20 minutes to the woods walk in at 630 pm and climb up the treestand to check the strap. As I pull on the strap and tighten it just a tad more to make sure my baby boy has no problems behind me i hear crunch crunch.
I slightly turn my head to the left and here comes a dandy 8 pointer just slowly working his way by the stand. As he passes underneath meI see out of the corner my left again coming from the same direction 4 does. Sooooooooo, they slowly pass by within 20 yards. Now I am just giggling inside with happiness for my son. This spot is only 29 acres of which 11 is nothing but pure swamp with tiny little island about 20 feet around dotted throughout the swamp and tall grass. I could not believe that the spot he picked had so much deer traffic through it, amazing.
Anyways, I am home early from work and may actually make it in the woods by 415pm for my first hunt of the year. If not then tomm. morning for sure. Thats it, just a little update on how things are going for me. Take it easy guys and be safe.
