RE: 19-Official Team 19 Thread
ORIGINAL: davepjr71 Now the gloves are off. Is this your tough look or the "Yeah, I know I'm cool" look? You better stick to this cause you aint going to be posing with any deer this year. |
RE: 19-Official Team 19 Thread
You're close. The buck wasstaggering out of the woods so I wrestled it to the ground andhad the photo taken before it knew what was going on. i practice catch and release hunting.

RE: 19-Official Team 19 Thread
Hey I made one but its really not what you wanted it to look like. I couldnt find anything. If you find a picture you would like me to try and fix lemme know.

RE: 19-Official Team 19 Thread

Thanks for the offer and good luck team 38 Hope you like 2nd |
RE: 19-Official Team 19 Thread
tomarrow Imma go find out wtf a "tech-9" string is. I'll find out what I can about it and how much instillation of everything is (though I'd be much better off doing it myself, what with the string settling adn creep and such).

ORIGINAL: KYDeerHunter03 Hey I made one but its really not what you wanted it to look like. I couldnt find anything. If you find a picture you would like me to try and fix lemme know. Thanks for the start.I appreciate you responding to my request for an avatar. As I stated in my PM I'll find a picture and scan it. Guys, If you have any pictures or ideas plase email them to me or post them on here to give Jenna an idea of what we'd like. jarrod, Let us know about this string they are telling you about. |
RE: 19-Official Team 19 Thread
Thank you for working on that for us!

RE: 19-Official Team 19 Thread
Dave I take it Tony is a bud? Where is Evans New York?
|
RE: 19-Official Team 19 Thread
Tony's a bud through HNI. We've conversed a few times on threads and PM'sand he's a good guy. I have no clue where Evans is.
I'm sure though that the onlybucks they have with racks bigger than a fork horn are found in the local book store or magazine racks. ;) lmao |
RE: 19-Official Team 19 Thread
Here is another, it has a deer looking at an empty treestand. A little bit closer to what you wanted, but still not exact.
|
RE: 19-Official Team 19 Thread
yeah were definitely gonna win this year and no one doubt that team quiet arrow is goingall the way man
thanks for the avatar idea jenna...looks good. i sent you some pics thru pm dave... not sure if you got them or not, im a little rusty with posting them, and im also one of those artistically handicapped people. |
RE: 19-Official Team 19 Thread
That is getting closer Jenna.
Idid get your ideas Mark and sent one of the shirts on to Jenna. The one she just sent is close to the type of scene that would be nice. However, I think we should get a view from behind the deerthis a guy in the stand that has just released and an arrow on it's way to the deer's sweet spot. I'm thinking that Quiet Arrow means that the deer has no idea that we have just released an arrow that is quietly heading towards the mark. What do you guys think? |
RE: 19-Official Team 19 Thread
I couldn't agree more Dave.
|
RE: 19-Official Team 19 Thread
yep i agree with you dave. that idea sounds great!
|
RE: 19-Official Team 19 Thread
Finner me too. I got a buck in 2005 and then came within a treelimb of getting one last year and then it got out of range. This is the year for me too!
By the way, have any of you watched Primos 15 Big Bucks? I bought it this weekend and watched it and I was pretty disappointed. I didn't think it was near as good as 13 & 14. |
RE: 19-Official Team 19 Thread
Ihad heard that hte latest Primos was pretty bad.
|
RE: 19-Official Team 19 Thread
Yeah, I was really looking forward to it. Oh well, we'll be in the woods ourselve before long.In about an hour I'll be going home for lunch and will be shooting a few quite arrows into my 3-D buck.

RE: 19-Official Team 19 Thread
Tech 9 bowstrings are the same ones used on bowtech bows. And I think bowtech strings are pretty good.
I thought vapor trail make bowtech strings, or so it said on the huntersfriend shootout (maybe they did in 2004). I don't think those stings would be a bad choice. |
RE: 19-Official Team 19 Thread
Bowtech makes their own strings now in house. Is your bow a Bowtech? If not,I didn't know they make strings for other bows.
vaportrail never made bowtech Strings that i know of. They used to have their strings made by another company but didn't think it was valportrailand were tired of the poor quality so they started making their own. |
RE: 19-Official Team 19 Thread
3D tonight for me too. I'm done aiming at the terrible kill zones on some of the targets though and until the season starts am going to aim where you should, not where the 12 ring is.
|
RE: 19-Official Team 19 Thread
Here is the one off the shirt that you wanted. Hope its ok.
|
RE: 19-Official Team 19 Thread
Jenna,
That looks pretty sweet. Thank you. I senta PM to elkslayer to see if he could come up with thevisionI have stuck in my head. However, if the guys all like this one we'll go with it. Thanks a lot and good luck to your team this year. |
RE: 19-Official Team 19 Thread
Thank you and good luck to all of you guys!
|
RE: 19-Official Team 19 Thread
I agree Dave, I just had that thought at lunch while I was practicing. I like the picture. Are we going to have T-shirts? Sorry I've been out of the loop on that info.
|
RE: 19-Official Team 19 Thread
Mike,
I was wondering about the T-shirt thing. There's a guy that is making ones for everyone in the buck contest. We could see what it would cost to have 10-12 t-shirts made for our team at any local place. |
RE: 19-Official Team 19 Thread
Cool, let's do it!

I think I'll just go to another dealer that sells Vapor Trail. It'll probably end up costing the same either way. Thanks for the logo |
RE: 19-Official Team 19 Thread
Jarrod,
Thanks for the link. The guy at the shop did tell me they stopped using outsources strings due to defects. However,I haven't heard of anybody having issues with the latest Vapor Trails. Eitherway, season is getting here soon so you better step on it. You can order right from vapor trail and probably save yourself time. http://www.vaportrailarchery.com/strings.asp Well, i'm off to a 3-D shoot. If i remember I'll snap some pictures. |
RE: 19-Official Team 19 Thread
Well Im not in too much of a hurry the by the way things are looking now. I guess I can always try another couple spots too though. Or use my dad's Drenalin.
|
RE: 19-Official Team 19 Thread
I wanted to look at the pics of the deer from last year's contest and who got them, where do I find that?

RE: 19-Official Team 19 Thread
Shooting you've done lately, scouting. funny stuff at work. I'm up for anything.
If we do not hear from the other 2 peopleI contacted byMonday we are going to go with the cool avatar that Jenna (KYDeerHunter03) made for us. Is that good for everyone? If i had the ability the scene that is stuck in my head i think would be so cool for our avatar. Here's my rough sketch. lol ![]() |
RE: 19-Official Team 19 Thread
Sounds like a great idea Nate. I wonder if we need another thread for that?

RE: 19-Official Team 19 Thread
I think I may have mentioned that I had a bear or bears damage one of my trail cams.I will be putting them out again with an improvised strap on one of them (thanks yogi!).I have been shooting a couple times a week and will try to get a third practice session in.I have a 16 year old nephew who would like to get in to bow hunting.I am pretty enthused about having him practice with me and set stands.I am intending to set a number of stands where I have two stands in the same tree,so we can both be up in the tree.I will have to preach about scent control.I would like to take him into area's where errors aren't as critical.I definitely don't want to blow a big buck out of an area by having twice the intrusion in their area.We will see how that unfolds,he is a good kid though and I like the thought of spending the time with him.
My wife and daughter are keeping me updated on the deer that they are seeing in the fields on the road by the house. No "good" bucks have been seen in the vicinity, plenty of doe's and fawns. Most of our area is just not that open so it is really hard to tell what bucks are in the area. I will be covering a lot of ground from now until the opener (10/15) scouting old and new area's, moving trail camera's around, setting some stands now and waiting for pictures or rubs and scrapes to set up others. |
RE: 19-Official Team 19 Thread
Scot,
I believe that's the first you mentioned about the bear. Of course, I'm in my own world lately. That's pretty neat. It's even cooler that you are introducing your nephew into the bowhunting community. Last night one of the guys i shoot with brought his teenage cousin to the range to shoot his new Redhead Krypik for the first time. It's amazing watching a new archer shoot and go through the things you are not supposed to do and then find yourself doing them when you shoot. The not gripping the bow before the shot is a big one. He did pretty good for his first time and even went out onto the 3D range with us and gave it a whirl. He was enthusiastic and even wanted to shoot at 40 yds even though we told him to practice at 20 and 30 tops until he gets his form down. One of the hunting magazines listed the Eastern Shore of MD as one of the sleeper spots for B&C deer. The good newsI found out last night is that the land that i got my buck on will be all to my brother andI this year. The guy's son will be out to sea and won't be hunting. this property had bucks that make mine look like a fork small deer. |
