I am not the one doing the filming most of the time... I have messed with it a little bit but need a lot more practice. Plus I rather be the guy with stick n string in hand then a camera. To be honest I do not want to say the company I work foror the shows I am in. I will say that we have 5 shows on the outdoor channel... one being the longest running show (15th season) and the other all archery show is in the top five most shows watched.... So i am sure you have heard of the main host of the shows. We also have 3 shows on MOR (which we might be pulling because of the ego war between dish and MOR).

Arrowmaster... I have done a lot of hunting in Indiana.... mostly central state (fishers/noblesville area) when I was young.Were are you out of?

Hey huntm up, do you know anything about that dish MOR thing. I call them once a week threatening to switch to Direct TV. They keep telling me they are working on negotiations. I will have to pay a fine to get out of my contract so I am hoping they get things worked out and put MOR back on Dish. I miss a lot of those shows.

Due to a cable change I don't get MOR anymore. [:@] It used to be on basic, but now comes
in some expensive package. I'm moving fairly soon, so I'm just doing without until then.

have to knock off an antler to keep from scaring away the locals.

Gary,I sure hope you are better at putting stands together and getting them hung than you are at swing sets. You might never hunt otherwise.

Hey guys and gal. I may be hunting some from the ground on a hill side of pines. There is a creek at the bottom of the valley.There are two well traveled paths through there. Would it be better to be uphill or downhill of the trail ? Or does it depend on morning,afternoon or evening because of thermals ? Or doesn't it matter at all ? Although I think I read somewhere on this forum something about location;)

Also...do we need to kiss FRALEY during the week or just when Gary is away this weekend ?[:'(]

It's doing great. I'm off crutches, walking in a boot,doing therapy, they say I'm ahead of the curve as far as movement.

Boot should come off for good Weds Aug 29th. Thats a month before our opener. So I still have some time to gain more strength.

Rob,

Generally people hunt from the higher elevation and I would give the following four reasons:
(1) you can see better and farther, (2) you won't be at eye level when the
deer come over the top,
(3) your scent won't circulate as easy down in the valley or draw, and (4) you may have a better
chance of getting in your stand undetected coming from the backside of a hill. There are probably
setups or situations that call for hunting a draw or bottom, but I don't think there are a whole lot of them.

Rob,

Your bigger question may be what side of the draw or bottom to hunt. That is harder to help you
with and depends on which direction the deer are coming from (it may change from morning
to afternoon) and of course the wind. If you know the deer are generally coming from a certain
direction, hunt on the side that blows the wind away from that direction.

Whats going on with MOR is basically a disagreement about advertising time... and all the guys have huge egos. MOR buys the time from DISH, DISH is owned by the same people that owns direct TV (I think InterMedia) Well the agreement is MOR pays DISH for the channel 218. Direct TV and DISH buys advertising time back from MOR, but the price was never decieded.... So MOR says it is worth this much because of ratings... InterMedia disagrees and says it should be this much and the reason why you are asking this price is because of money problems... So in renogationing the contract DISH says we will just stop airing the channel until you agree to our price... but what screws the whole deal up is DISH has no plans on resigning MOR on there satalites... and MOR filed for chapter 11..... LONG STORY SHORT IT IS A HUGE HUGE MESS AND CAUSES ME A LOT OF PAIN.

I put one of those together "ONCE" never again.Between my wife asking every hour when it was going to finished and my daughter wanting to use it before it was completed,it was a nightmare!
I am now allergic to any thing that requires assembly! Just like gas grills,whats the deal with always having parts left over?:D

Not sure if this helps. There are trails on both sides and they run along the hill and down along the creek. There is a small patch of pines relative to the rest of the hardwoods.

Red: Trails
Yellow: Pine patch
Blue: Creek

If it were me I would set up 3 rut stands where I have the circles. The one where the trails mark the x I would move up bit(towards the square).

I would setup early season on those field edges and hunt evenings only until late October. From what I see the deer will bedding near you, so it will be hard to get to your stands undected.

First you need to save it to your computer. Then go to the top of the page and click on my profile. Scroll down to see the avatar section. Then upload it from where you saved it. Then go to the bottom of the page and apply changes and then ok.

I would look at the spots that I marked in green for possible stand sights depending on thr wind. I usually like to hunt on the uphill side of trails in the mornings and the downhill side in the evenings if possible. That way the thermals should take your scent away from the trails.

Thanks guys! I actually have my two stands very near the two marks on the left. And there is what's left of an old stand near the top right mark. The trail that leads up to the open field on the left is used to go to that field in the evenings and they come down through there in the morning. I guess I didn't do too bad picking spots myself. The yellow blob is about the location of our house.
