ORIGINAL: Germ ORIGINAL: LebeauHunter Down with Germ the Dictator! What, no vote on the new Avatar? :D:D:D I have a few ideas, just been busy. Will take a vote!!! maybe;) |
RE: 43- Official Team Chaos Thread
K- Guys how you doing out there? I am still around but I see I have to go back about 12/13 pages to catch up to you GUYS, I am going to have to check in more often!
|
RE: 43- Official Team Chaos Thread
The deer in the logo doesn't exactly scream "Chaos," but it's something. RyanAller does some awesome work, I'm sure he wouldn't mind taking a crack at it. Germ, is the swing palace all done up and kid tested? Hunting Lady if you read 12-13 pages, go ahead and throw in your two cents, whether it's you guys suck, I love the old avatar, I'm going to kill a buck bigger than you guys, whatever. ;) |
RE: 43- Official Team Chaos Thread
As you can see it's heavily wooded.I can plant one but it would be a small one in the woods that I would have to clear out. I have spot or two picked out that I had planned on doing eventually. Also along our gravel private drive towards the main road (west) there is a spot near a big oak tree. The yellow is my property. The red is property I have permission to hunt. The white is property I'm working on getting permission to hunt.

RE: 43- Official Team Chaos Thread
Germ, is the swing palace all done up and kid tested? Will take some picture and show you guys. flstnhd Are there any ag fields near you? Reason I am asking is I believe you always want to add what is lacking in your area. Our land food is plentiful, but cover is not. In the last 10 years we have added 80 acers of CRP to the mix. So now we have a good mix. My rule is to look at land and plant what you need, some thing food plots are the holy grail of hunting, there not;) In your case I think a couple of nice size plots in your woods will help. |
RE: 43- Official Team Chaos Thread
Only hay fields and cow pastures from what I've seen. The woods are mostly Oak,Hickory and Maple. What size plots are we talking ? I got a sampler package from Whitetail Inst a few weeks back. The food plots are something I had planned on doing but we've only been in the house a little over a year and I've had a few other things keeping me busy:)

Gary,
Good, now you can focus on things that really matter, like hunting. :D:D:D Where's Fraley with his "Mornin?" Every time I see that I think about some old guy at the camp dragging out of bed in his longjohns after a night of card playing hovering around the coffee pot. :D |

RE: 43- Official Team Chaos Thread
I'm gone 6 days and you guys are at page 50! good Lord its gonna take me 6 more day to catch up on this reading. Guys I absolutely had one of the best 6 days of my hunting life. My cousin Trouthunter and I videod my entire hunt. I didnt kill a goat. Had some very close calls and hunted my arse off all day every day...Water was everywhere so water holes were not an option. We hunted speed goats from 5000 to 8000 feet in elevation. Pretty much up on the timber line with the elk. Saw a cougar, wolf, yotes, elk, moose, and hunted goats everyday and learned a ton. I really got served some humble pie in my yardage assesments and missed SHORTtwice misjudging that open country on two nice bucks.. Live and learn, I just bought a range finder today after getting home last night at about 1 am.. All in all I learned a ton in the 60+ hours Scott and I hoofed and drove over about 50 miles of public ground. I have some great footage of a monster loper buck (he had 19 does)I got within 60-70 or soyards of and passed on due to hvy winds..We have footage of almost every other buck we spot and stalked or tried to ambush after patterning them. I really needed more time..for patterning.. The country was beautiful and huge!
OK ... time to get focused on Whitetails.. Just wanted to let ya know how it all went down. I have a lot of photos and video to break down for a journal.. I am gonna go get some sleep in.. I have stands to hang tomorrow. I hope everyone here on team 43 is doing well and I will get caught up on the thread soon.. peace out ... Troy |
RE: 43- Official Team Chaos Thread
Sounds great shed post a clip on youtube?
|
RE: 43- Official Team Chaos Thread
Troy,
Shows you don't have to kill to enjoy yourself. Sounds like a blast. Let us know when you post your journal. |
RE: 43- Official Team Chaos Thread
Man that sounds like fun. I hunted them once in Wyoming about 23 years ago. But that was with rifle. The neat thing about out there was, you could almost always see some somewhere.
Well anyways welcome back, hope you get all caught up on the team postings and sleep. Now get your arse ready to kill a bruiser whitetail. Looking foward to the pics!!! |
RE: 43- Official Team Chaos Thread
Troy sounds likea blast!!!

ORIGINAL: LebeauHunter Troy, Shows you don't have to kill to enjoy yourself. Sounds like a blast. Let us know when you post your journal. My cousin and I had the best time laughing and learning about what we called the KRAZY "blanking" lopers! We shed a few pounds..hiking our butts off.. LOL Finally, I am sold 100% on this type of archery hunt... Its a big challenge and I love glassing and stalking in on anycritter..this hunt was all I could ever ask for and more of apublic ground opportunity. We found a buck to target everyday, cant ask for more than that.. I purely didnt get the shot taken care of.. but I am already looking forward to next summer, I am gonna go for about 10 days, get there a couple days before season for scouting...take my family next time too, because we had absolutely beautiful streams and rivers to fish way down in the low country..the boys might want to sit in a sage brush ambush blind with me a few hours as well.. I'll get a few pix up, cant do the Utube thing..here its too slow on Dial up ..when I get back to teaching in a week though I will try to get some video clips loaded at work ... |
RE: 43- Official Team Chaos Thread
Ok real quick guys without running back through all the posts..
anyone else hunting whitetails before Sept 15th? other than I? I start in 1 week! yahoooooo Gary, I just picked up 6 strikers today.. I've been eyeballing them for a couple months..I need to get outside this afternoon and see how they fly.. 100 grainers here.. Jim, your right..its whitetail time now.. I am gonna hit it hard till Hiawatha gets here the 15th for elk... ! He and I just firmed that up on the phone today.. Hes on his way.. Ryan, imagine where you and I hunted elk ..were you had your bull come in.. and take away all the trees, add sage brush..thats what the ground was like we anteloped hunted..steep but open.. with some nice benches and ridges.. hahaha, Scott wouldnt let me take too many pictures of the gorgeousscenery.. he didnt want me to give his elk spot away..I dont blame him on public land like that.... ;) |

RE: 43- Official Team Chaos Thread
Deer Down!!!!! I am pretty excited about it shot a little guy(115), but I wanted a deer in the velvet really really bad. I would score him for this contest but I went to the darkside last week [:'(]got him with the 7mm TC. Nice deer but time to grab stick and string and get ready for Sept 15!
PS the G-5 broadheads might be the best on the market imho. I shoot the 100 strikers and never had a problem. Will be honest though, I like the spitfires for a mechincal. |
RE: 43- Official Team Chaos Thread
Lets see some pictures!!!
Congrats!!! I so want one in Velvet!! |
