BerwindaleBoy shot our first one last year. He took a velvet muley on opening day in Montana. Then it was like it is now until the weather started to cool down in October. I think BB has a buck down and he is just unable to get on to the site for one reason or another. They have been having all those problems and so who knows... I wouldn't sweat it yet.

I slipped out last night with the north wind and cool weather for an evening hunt. I got to my stand and tied the bow to the string then climbed the stand to only find out that I left the other end of the string on the ground. Climb down and grab the string and head back up. Get settled in and wait and wait until about 7:00 and the cloud cover was making it hard to see and I hadn't seen anything yet nor did I hear anything either. So I start to pack things up. Put the quiver on the bow and tie her up to the string let the bow down on the ground. Then I got the seat off the tree stand and put the backpack on and then unstrapped the harness when I hear a twig snap!

Look to the west and there is a buck not 10 yards from my stand. He came from the west where I have limited visability. He was right behind a branch of a tree right next to the one I am in. He was probably a 110" buck but it was fairly dark so I could be off either way. It looked to be at least a 4X4 anyway. So I just sat there and watched him unitl he finally got downwind of me and new something was up and went the other way. A second deer came out from the same spot a few minutes after the first but I couldn't see that one very well.

It was a great night to get out though. Nice and cool and I even got rained on for a couple minutes.

Wheatley my man!! You have got to sit out every last minute! That is when they are the most likely to be moving throughout the entire evening. I cannot even begin to tell you how many evenings I have sat and seen nothing until the last 5 mintues of light. Those last 5 minutes are what I sit the entire evening for. The good news is you are going to shoot a bigger one later... MUCH BIGGER!!!

Yeah, I wanted to smack myself after that but I thought about if I would have had my bow would I have shot this one? Probably not because I made that 125" minimum bet so at this point in the game he needed to be a little bigger. Now the second one that came out I am not sure what that was since it got to dark to see. He was probably that monster. Doooh!

I hope you get the chance to get out there on Sat. Ron. Get them jitters out of ya and maybe score.

Where I am heading it looks like we will be freezing everynight and probably have some snow dumped on us two of the 4 days. Makes me excited and I can not wait any longer for this trip. I wish we could just that weather down here to make the hunting more enjoyable.
