I got in my tree.....JUST as the bottom fell out. Rob...I've got ANOTHER suggestion for Chuck for the Enigma......seriously. At 6:50 a HUGE doe and her 2 fawns passed......but no antlered one. I may try tomorrow morning if it isn't raining. We'll see.

I have learned one thing really well in my 1+ yr of deer hunting:

The ONLY thing predictable about whitetails is.......they're unpredictable.

I passed on your suggestions to Chuck, Jeff and he liked them. I told him that many states don't require that back tag and the little holder he has on the jackets and that very well could be a good spot for the tree harness strap.

The collar, another great suggestion and he's working on it for a possible option or standard I don't know.

Sounds like a great hunt and I think your on to something there as well.

On another note, I love dogs, I think they are one of the greatest creatures on this planet and deserve more respect than they get from too many people. God bless you and yours through this time.

Thanks for the kind words, Rob. I keep thinking I'd rather not know.....but that's selfish. I need to make her last days/weeks/months pretty special. You'll get to meet her when you're here. I'm not ashamed to say it's breakin my heart, though. She's not "just a dog". She's been a GREAT friend.

It would be pretty simple to do.....and I'm going to have mine altered after the season. The collar is a no brainer if you're gonna hunt in ANY rain. the way it is now.....it's a funnel for water. Hey!....but I'm a novice....what do I know???....lol. These are merely suggestions to COMPLIMENT what he's already got going.....which I think is GREAT!

well.....just got in. went to a new spot near my old spot i found while doing my project. had to wait till the crack of dawn to enter the woods because i didnt know what tree i wanted to be in. 2 trails come together..one coming from the bottom and one from the ridge..i wanted to have shooting at both..exspecially the top one because it branched off and went across the top or down to the main trail. couldnt find a tree anywhere near where i could have good shooting except a bit below the bottom trail. figured maybe i could call them in if they went high or maybe i could get high enough to see that trail. attached my climber and looked at the gasline 75yds away and theres a hunter. he spots me..proceeds to sit down. ughhhh!! so i climb anyways..hoping he was grouse hunting and would hit the bottom and get them movin for me. climb to the top..hes still sittin there..UGH!! callin turkeys like its goin outa style..not a turkey within earshot but he kept yelpin away. 15 minutes later he leaves..8am crunch crunch crunch..coming from the top..ohhh here we go!! 40yds away..come on crest the hill! nope...decided to cut the top...never got a look. went over there when i climbed down to confirm it..sure enough fresh steamin deer crap! ohhhhh well...i definently need to scout up here at school harder for next year..this was my last day to hunt up here for the bow season. went and finished taking pics for my project..think im going to rifle hunt there..big growing clearcut..has some good sign in it. definently getting discouraged at the LACK of deer sign on that gamelands though. they are there..but not like they were when i was 14..seeing 20 some deer by 9am....and no giant buck rubs and scrapes out the wazoo either like before...

had to come back early because i gota meet with my academic advisor to make up next semesters schedule.

Germ..ill fill ya in on the GIRL lol...we definently got somethin kinda goin on..she already invited me over last night!! that was at like 5..she had to go for a bit and told her to let me know..630 shes back...7 i told her i was goin to get some food..her indisicive roomate kept her from coming[:@] and her roomate also kept me from goin over..her roomate wanted to go out but then she finally decided not to go out at 930! told her thanx for lettin me know 4hrs later! tell me early next time and ill be there..talked all night..think were goin to shoot some squirrels next week or the week after..still dont know if theres a chance..exspecially with her graduating..and still got the CURRENT girl..sooo we shall see..

back in the woods friday and saturday at home.....hope i can make somethin happen!

One thing I was just thinking about too, Rob.....is a flap of material (doubled) that would cover the grommet when a tether was not on it (say turkey hunting).....and deflect water away if the tether was through it and it was raining.

I'm not asking for a Steinway, here.....but it appears it would be a pretty simple option.
